A self standing quiz, takes about 40 minutes, could be ideal for a cover lesson as it involves self assessment and the possibility of a useful and worthwhile lesson with no teacher input whatsoever. Possibly more useful if students are given the A4 Literary Terminology Sheets for revision a week before!

The template document can be shared with students for a collective revision through shared documents or can be printed and students can fill in during a lesson or for personal revision

pre-reading materials on the poem "Punishment", giving an overview of Heaney's context and the political message of the poem. there are also links made with Blake in terms of the historicism of poetry of protest. Some prompts for students to formulate their own essay questions
An excellent resource including plenty of social and historical context as well as analysis of the language and structure of the poem. A stand alone lesson with a possible timed essay response at the end. This produces excellent responses from my Year 12 group, which is a broadly mixed ability group!

A great resource for context with some introductory notes on how to respond to Assessment Objectives, two clear homeworks linked to AOs and some Language, Form and Structure ideas. Looking closely at the scary stories genre, the genre worksheet is designed to work with the story Winter Pruning by Chris Priestley from the short story anthology Uncle Montague´s Tales of Terror. The other two sheets are generic genre or horror or scary story worksheets. For the characteristics sheet, I viewed lots of youtube clips of genres and looked at book covers to get the students to fill in the characteristics.
two very simple resources which would allow sixth form students to run their own debates during registration or PHSE. The format and timing can be adjusted. The only thing you have to do is find some good debate topics.
