This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint introducing students to circuit diagrams and circuit symbols. This is the first lesson in the Electricity unit of work (P2).
There are ideas for homework, advise on differentiated teaching of the subject and PDF A3 circuit diagrams to print out and laminate to assist weaker students with this, often difficult activity.
There is also a PDF card sort to print out of all of the circuit symbols required by the National Curriculum and examination board.
v1.01 - Corrected first slide, oval sent to back of page
This is a lesson and PowerPoint revising and summarising the Particle Model of Matter. This is the eighth lesson in the Particle Model unit of work (P3).
The lesson quickly recaps lessons 1 - 7 from this unit (which are available on this site and as a bundle) and covers the theories of solids, liquids and gases; the particle diagrams, density, specific heat capacity, specific latent heat and a qualitative assessment of the gas law.

This is a lesson and PowerPoint that covers the Michelson-Morley experiment. This is a brief non-mathematical explanation of the experiment that also emphasises the importance of a null hypothesis, scientific rigour and the evolution of understanding of science over three centuries.
This lesson is FREE to download and share but is copyright protected and must not be amended.
As well as supporting A-Level Physics for many exam boards this lesson is also part of a chapter that covers the optional Turning Points in Physics unit 9 for AQA (Lesson 11 of 15)

This is a 6 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of Capacitors in both series and parallel circuits. This PowerPoint includes circuit diagrams and worked examples of the capacitance, current and voltage calculations needed for basic circuits. This is an extension from the earlier lesson where capacitance and capacitors were introduced in detail.
This is the sixth PowerPoint in this section (Electricity and circuits).
This is an 8 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of DC motors. This short powerpoint is designed to be used alongside a lesson where a DC motor can be examined or where a practical can be performed to create one.
This is the fourth PowerPoint in this section (Magnetism and Electromagnetic induction).
This is an 7 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of impedance. This lessons covers the calculations to calculate impedance, starting from resistance, capacitance and inductance.
This is the third and final PowerPoint in this section (single phase alternating current) and is also the final lesson in the entire scheme of work (available as a single bundle).
This is the second of three lessons that introduce the idea of logarithms
The PowerPoint takes students through the difficulties in solving algebra with unknown powers and cumulative interest. The general simple rules of addition and subtraction of logarithms is discussed.
This is part of the essential mathematics skills needed for A-Level Physics
This is the third of three lessons that introduce the idea of logarithms
The PowerPoint takes students through the use of natural logarithms to find unknown powers in formulae and to create linear equations from exponential formulae.
This is part of the essential mathematics skills needed for A-Level Physics
This is a lesson that explains basic differentiation leading onto a proof of Euler's number and the use of this in creating exponential decay formulae.
This PowerPoint is designed to take you step by step through the derivation of the formulae used in Physics for the decay of isotopes or other exponential experiments.
This is an 8 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of Stress - Strain graphs, linking tensile stress and strain and the calculation of the modulus of elasticity
This is the third and final PowerPoint in this section which goes over some of the work from lesson one (Tensile stress and strain) and goes into more detail of graph analysis to find yield point, tensile strength as well as comparing qualitatively ideas like malleable and brittle materials.
iGCSE - Reflection of light
This lesson covers the basics of reflected light, honing in on exam points including the normal and the angles of incidence and reflection. The experiment for reflection of light and a ray box is included, as well as description of specular and diffuse reflections and how to draw diagrams with multiple reflections from surfaces.
This is a 6 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of Sources of Direct Current (DC). This PowerPoint includes a description of cells (and batteries) including internal resistance, photovoltaic cells, and stabilised AC to DC convertors.
This is the seventh PowerPoint in this section (Electricity and circuits) and it builds on the previous lessons, bringing many aspects together including resistance in series and the use of capacitors and Zener diodes.
