This lesson was devised as an observation for an interview and, guess what? I got the job!

A booklet with a range of reading activities based on aspects of historical and social contexts of Macbeth. Activities develop reading skills while providing contextual information including James I, witchcraft and the Gunpowder Plot. At the end of the booklet is a reading assessment in the style of the new GCSE exams (WJEC).

A calendar (generic dates for easy re-use) with a different literacy focus for each month. Each month has a different focus with examples and a space for different curriculum areas to add their own subject specific example or usage. An ideal way to promote literacy across the curriculum ensuring consistency while showing that literacy is applicable to all subjects.

A power point and accompanying booklet aimed at developing writing for a range of non-fiction purposes including information, explanation, instruction, recount, persuasion and argument. Activities include reading examples and identifying features of the different purposes, planning own writing with a range of tasks to choose from, independent writing, peer assessment and improvement all with a football theme. Booklet was created using Microsoft Publisher but, following some feedback, I have also adapted it into a Word document for anyone without Publisher.

A planning sheet for narrative writing initially aimed at GCSE English Language Paper 1 section B (WJEC but easily adaptable to any narrative writing task. This contains activities for developing plot structure and extending vocabulary.

A power point and booklet to prepare learners for their GCSE English Language Controlled assessment (WJEC). The task was to write a tourist guide for the local area. Activities include planning writing, features of tourist guides, etc.

A complete lesson with power point, lesson plan and resources following the TEEP learning cycle. The lesson focuses on exploring the Seven Ages of Man/All the World's a Stage speech from As You Like It.

A booklet aimed at getting Y9 to understand the characters and plot of Macbeth through a homework project from over a school holiday/series of weeks. Booklet includes a storyboard of Macbeth where the plot has been provided, but learners have to add the pictures. It also has a page which shows all the main characters (for them to draw pictures) and a blank front cover for them to design a suitable cover. Also included is a landscape version of the storyboard with comprehension questions at the end of Act Two, Four and Five.

A resource for learners to translate key scenes in The Tempest from the Shakespeare to more modern language. Key scenes are: Act 1 Scene 2, lines 412 to 463 Act 3 Scene 1, lines 32 to 91

Power point presentations with a writing task for Years 7, 8, and 9 with the opportunity for learners to respond to peer assessment built in. These were originally devised as part of a drive to show that learners were responding to feedback and evidencing this in their books. The tasks are similar but contain references to the different criteria for the Literacy Numeracy Framework (LNF) in Wales.
