VIRUS VIROIDS & PRIONS (Multiple Activity Lesson)
Here come the body invaders! Not literally. Are you looking for a multi faceted resource that is hands on, promotes active learning and engage your students to learn about viruses and their “evil” siblings? This product might be helpful. There are 3 parts to the activity. They can be used as solo activities or used together.
In Activity 1: Students label a general virus structure. Then compare viruses, viroids and prions in a Venn diagram activity. I have included an easel version too.
In activity 2: Students learn about viral replication. They explore lytic and lysogenic replication through a hands on cut and paste activity. (Check preview for sample work). This activity is sure to engage them physically and mentally. There is an easel version as well.
In activity 3: Students identify some common viruses by exploring an HHMI biointeractive website. Students use clues provided to find a virus. After that they will draw the external structure of these viruses on their worksheets.
I have included answer keys to all the worksheets and teacher guide to assist you as much as possible.
