This download includes x4 portrait orientation, pdf sheets. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to practise reading and writing x8 simple sentences to identify and make corrections to each one. Every sentence has x3 errors to correct. Two answer pages are included in the same format, making every error made clear. Answers could be used by learners to cross-check their sentences, promoting autonomy. Who’s it for? This resource is aimed at learners who are learning Phase 5 phonics, this may be learners in Reception, years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details Pages 1 and 2 both include x4 sentences, each in a separate box and illustrated with a simple image on the right. Both pages include the same instructions at the top - making it clear to learners that there are x3 errors in each sentence and what these errors may be. Types of error include: spellings capital letters finger spaces full stops Sentences include words containing Phase 5 sounds: ea ay a-e aw ph High frequency words included are: she you his are and said see their not with at the to do that can in loved dad Picture Clues The pictures provide clues to help read unfamiliar words e.g. lions, zoo, sheep, lambs, chicken, grapes, bake, encouraging learners to use a range of reading skills when decoding these sentences if they are not at a level to read them on-sight. Answers (Pages 3 and 4) Answers clearly show each error which is circled in pink and corrected underneath. Important message… Any issues let us know - we are happy to make changes.

This pdf download includes x3 landscape orientation sheets featuring x7 colour ‘splats’ with colour name labels with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane colours for (window) display. What’s it for? These colours have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the coloured shapes look beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the colours in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of colours together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each colour. The colours can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. A ‘Colours!’ label (to be displayed with the set of shapes) is included. This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students who would appreciate a pop of colour shining through when the sun comes out! Resource Details There are x3 pages. The first page includes clear instructions with two colours, the second page includes remaining colours in the set and the last page the ‘Colours!’ word label. The colours featured in this resource are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink and purple. Suggestions We recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive online. We also recommend also backing every colour in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x6 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x3 sheets). This phonics activity enables learners to sound out graphemes to read simple simple words (all contain the ‘a’ sound) to match with the corresponding picture. This set has been designed to be a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support. How to use it? An adult needs to print and pre-cut the cards into rectangles (dotted lines guide where to cut). The set of cards can be placed on a carpet/table top. Learners read each word by sounding out the individual graphemes featured, they then match each word to the picture from this set. Phoneme ‘dots’ have been included under every grapheme so that learners know how many sounds to say as they sound out the words. Resource Details… The words/pictures included use phonemes/graphemes from Phases 2 and 3 but mainly Phase 2. In the red set only ‘v’ is a phase 3 sound. Red (Set a) words included cat/crab/map/pan/mat/van/hat/bat/bag/cap Sets e/i/o/u are also available. Each set is a different colour to avoid cards becoming mixed and to help finding a relevant matching card easier. Suggestion Print this resource onto card (and laminate) to improve durability. Card sets (alone or more than one together) can be used to play games e.g. ‘pairs’.
