‘Lovable Letters’ is a new, lower case letter writing resource proving popular for children with autism; ADHD; dyslexia and dyspraxia. It uses oracy to help children to remember which way round the letters go by making all 26 letters easy to visualize.
It groups letters into 7 easy groups by helping children to think of letters as having the human features of: heads; backs; heads and backs; backs and bottoms; backs and arms; back and legs; legs.
When a purchase of the photocopiable book is made, I will send a free power-point containing 11 songs including a new alphabet song which prevents l, m, n, o, p letter confusion.
Each of the 7 letter groups has a rhyme, followed by an illustration of the letter or letters; which is then consolidated by singing a catchy song about this letter group. The next step is copying the fun, letter illustrations and adding their own extra body parts such as feet!
Children finish by singing the favourite Alphabet Whoo! Song, which reminds them how many letters there are in the alphabet and explains that some are consonants, others vowels. It helps those children who need an alternative way of learning, with minimal memory overload. Above all, children LOVE it!!
