This is the 3rd lesson of Enquiry Question 3 from the water topic. This lesson uses a little chalk and talk before students use the short case studies to help answer the exam question from the June 2018 paper. Thanks for looking.

A quick lesson concentrating on the command word ‘analyse’ for the Synoptic Paper 3 geography paper for Edexcel. There are some practice questions using old-prelease stimuli with a markscheme. Students need to complete a practice question from one of the SAMs beforehand to help with the flow of the lesson - resources for this are on the powerpoint. Enjoy.

Covers types of flow, types of energy, erosion, transportation (animations borrowed from someone else), and deposition, with links to relevant past exam questions. First 'dustbins&' link might not work - created on classtools. Second link is &';sticky does rivers' which is obviously not my video!

You need a copy of Interactions (new or old edition works!) to go with this resource. Students read each statement and decide whether it is true or false, based on the information from pg8-11 of the textbook. Must correct 'false&' statements and add further info to &';true' statements. Extension activities at bottom of the sheet. Aimed at yr9. Leaving it as a cover activity - could give cover teacher answers so students can self-assess.

This is the 3rd lesson from Enquiry Question 1 of the carbon and energy unit. This lessons looks at the fast carbon cycle and puts the onus on students to research this (needed for subsequent lessons). Students use the information provided as a starting point to their research and present to the class using the Attitude to Learning Criteria in different areas of presentation skills. An updated popular resource which had a lot of downloads but only one piece of feedback. This lesson is a role-play/drama activity based on the news story of the scientists in the dock (Oct 2012) about how Italian siesmologists are on trial for not predicting L’Aquila (2009). The information used has come from BBC articles and videos. The powerpoint has notes on how to set the lesson up whilst the word documents are the witness statements and judges questions. It is important that you have done previous work on earthquake prediction, but that they DON’T KNOW what happened with this trial in real life until they’ve been through the courtcase. Works well with top set yr9 or even GCSE. This is a lesson to invite the Head to sit in and be a judge!

The lessons looks at the slow carbon cycle and looks at geology, volcanic outgassing, and chemical weathering as well as an overview of the rock cycle. The Hodder flag textbook is needed. Made this lesson as part of a short sequence to cover the 'Food' chapter of Section 3 in the new (2016) GCSE Geography syllabus for AQA. This lesson would benefit from using the Hodder - Widdowson et al book (white/green cover). This is a case study but has an essay template for students to use to plan an answer to a relevant exam questions based on the success of this case study. The longer questions with more demanding command words is a real concern for students taking this course, which is why I feel this resource is worth a look at. This template could easily be adapted to other 'Evaluation' exam questions and will also help with DME structuring. Unfortunately there is no mark scheme at present for this one here. Once I have cobbled one together I will include (free to those who have already bought this resource- message me). Thanks.

Please find step-by-step guides and templates for 4 main command words for Geography A Level: Explain Analyse Evaluate Assess Insert the powerpoint slides into your lessons when you introduce a specific exam question (change the question obviously!) and give out of a copy of the template for students to fill in. Gradually remove this scaffold over time. I made this based on examboard advice and literature.
