This worksheet comprises of three activities relating the oceans and continents of the world. The activities are as follows: a) Anagrams of the oceans and continents of the world. b) Label a world map with the oceans and continents of the world. c) Choose three continents and write down three countries for each. Children may need an atlas or access to Google Maps or existing world map for this. It serves as a review or follow-up to an introduction to the oceans and continents of the world. Children are expected to know the names of the of them all, how to spell them and be able to locate them on a map of the world. The document is mostly editable so you can change some of the parts to suit your children’s needs.

The Challenge This Code Breaker Challenge is made up of 4 challenge sheets, each containing three sets of questions about addition as well as an instruction section written in code. There is also a final challenge sheet for obtaining the master lock key. The Setup Ideally, the Code Breaker Challenge requires a box which can be locked with four three digit combination locks and one padlock. See the attached picture as an idea for the setup. It could however be done without this, but wouldn’t be quite as fun for the children. How to Use Fill the box with treasure, for example some sweets and then setup the combinations on each of the locks and lock the box with them and the master lock. Split the class up into four teams and provide each team with one of the challenge sheets. Start a timer of approximately 30 minutes (depending on the ability and age of your class). Each team works together to solve the challenge and tell the teacher the three digit code. If they got it correct, they may open their lock. If not, then they will need to check their answers. Once all four combination locks have been opened, or even after the first team has finished, provide the master lock challenge. If they complete it correctly and within the time, they can then have the master lock key to open the treasure box. Great Fun! The children absolutely love the Code Breaker Challenge and we repeat it at the end of every major maths unit. They really need to work together and check their work carefully if they are to succeed in opening the box and retrieving the treasure within. The documents is fully editable so you can use it as a template to create your own challenges if you like. This worksheet includes a world map (with country borders), a key for ten places and a compass. Students can use it to help improve their locational geographic knowledge of ten different countries around the world. Using an atlas (online or traditional) they can find a particular country and then colour it in on the map using the key to identify it. Once completed they can easily cover up the key and use it to self-assess or assess their friends. They can also add the compass directions on at the bottom as a further additional activity.

This editable worksheet contains six simple (series) electrical circuits for the children to build. After each one, there are a series of questions relating the circuit. Take a look at the preview for further details.

This fun puzzle involves children using Google Earth to find a specific letter of the alphabet. All the letters are made-up from different features on earth such as buildings and rivers. Each coordinate leads to a different letter. Once the children have recorded the letter, they can zoom out to find out and record what country it is in. Once they have all the letters, they have to rearrange them to make up the mystery word. You can see all the answers by selecting the text in both the country and letter columns and changing the text colour. They are hidden in plain sight, so don’t forget to remove them if you are setting this as a document online. This could either work as an individual competition - see who can find all the places in the quickest time. Or it could be done as a collective effort - the whole class working to find the different places before the time runs out. Children and adults alike really enjoy this activity! Extension ideas: a) Have the children find their own letters around the world, or for more difficulty, in their local area. b) Use the snipping or Print Screen (PrtSc) tool to copy images of letters and spell out a name or even a phrase.

This fun activity involves children using Google Earth to discover various famous landmarks from around the world. Examples include a mixture of man-made structures such as The Taj Mahal, and natural landmarks such as Ayre’s Rock. Children can ether type or copy the coordinates into Google Earth and then easily find the monument. Older students could even try to manually find the coordinates. Once there, they can explore the landmark following which they should record its name and country in the table. This could either work as an individual competition - see who can find all the places in the quickest time. Or it could be done as a collective effort - the whole class working to find the different places before the time runs out. It works as a great follow-up lesson to mapping and use of coordinates or even just as an introduction to Google Earth or an introduction to famous human and physical geographic landmarks.

Great series of worksheets to bring structure and scientific inquiry in building electrical circuits. Made up of four electrical circuit practical worksheets. Children have to complete one before proceeding to the next. Each successive one is more difficult than the previous. Each page involves drawing drawing and building a circuit followed by testing it and answering related questions. Children will build and test both series and parallel circuits. *Requires that the children have the basic pieces to create each electrical circuit to test. Circuit 1 - Comparing the brightness of one and two bulbs in series. Circuit 2 - Comparing the speed of one and two motors in series. Circuit 3 - Parallel circuits and a logic diagram. This worksheet serves as a colourful introduction to the different methods of food preservation. It is a diagram showing the first letters of different ways of food preservation along with picture prompts. Discuss and elicit the methods from individuals or groups in the class. The answers are provided on the second page. They are… Freezing, refrigerating, drying or dehydrating, vacuum-packing, salting or curing, pickling, canning or jarring and smoking. This fun activity lets children explore that classic deserted island scenario. It presents pictures of 16 items from which the children have to choose three to take with them to be stranded with. They must explain verbally or in writing why they have chosen these items. The children could even suggest why other items would not be worth having. It’s worth encouraging the children to think of alternate uses for the items they have chosen too. This works both as an individual activity and as a group activity to promote effective communication between members.

In our study of states of matter, we (Year 3) make jelly and ice cream in a bag. This is a fill in the blanks worksheet for the recipe to make a packet of regular jelly. The words are included in a table above the text. The document is fully editable, so you can change various parts or instructions as you please.

A full work-through for an experiment on mummifying an apple. Includes the full scientific method from hypothesis through to conclusion. Great to get some science into a topic about Ancient Egypt. I usually begin the experiment so that a month or so later, it coincides with a look at the mummification process. We also create an Adobe Spark video to explain the way the Egyptians made their mummies. Extra discussion prompts: What foods to we preserve? How and why do we preserve them? How is this similar to the process of mummification?

This is the electronic take on the classic memory game and it’s fully editable! Just add in pairs (or groups) of words for matching up. Best to be projected in front of the class and have two teams compete. There are 24 numbered tiles that reveal the words underneath when clicked on. I’ve also included one click scoring systems (with a max 12 points for each of the two teams) as well as a hide and reveal all button. This is great for reinforcing new vocabulary but can also be used for anything which can be split into two parts. For example, a word cut in half, a word and definition, a word and picture, a verb and its past tense form, synonyms or even a maths calculation and answer. There are so many different possibilities! It’s also good point for introducing locational memory strategies and mnemonics.
