A simple but highly effective resource to aid reading. Enclosed on this bookmark are 'I can' statements linked to the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 new reading National Curriculum.
There are three bookmark to each A4 page. Each bookmark is colourfully designed and includes a playful clipart image - thanks to our link to iClipart.

The resource is colourfully designed and can be used as a display item or as a word bank on the table.
This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text:
The Man whose Mother was a Pirate (years 2/3)
In total there are 3 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the chapters in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan.
Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation.
The plans have been written by an experienced primary school teacher and have been tried and tested in the classroom.
These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a persuasive letter.
The mat gives helpful sentence starters for the beginning, middle and end of the letter as well as possible adverbs and adjectives that could be used. There is also an example of a persuasive letter that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. The attached images show each mat but each pack includes:
Mat 1 for the less able pupils (one A4 sheet)
Mat 2 for the middle ability pupils (one A4 sheet)
Mat 3 for higher ability pupils (on A4 sheet)
Mat 4 - an example of a model persuasive letter (could be laminated back to back with one of the above mats)
The resource is colourfully designed with the colours linked to the language through colour system. However any child can use these mats regardless of whether they are using this system.
A simple but effective resource idea for any Early Years or KS1 classroom. Enclosed in this pack are 26 A4 posters showing every letter of the alphabet. Note that for ‘x’ the image of a fox is included with the ‘x’ underlined.
