Les vacances Y11 adjectives
Mainly for Cambridge iGCSE board but can be adapted for any. Some sentences to practise adjectives and translations
Les vetements - writing practise
A worksheet with 3 possible answers for each bullet point. Could be used in a variety of ways:
Teacher to cut out slips and students group them and match to the correct bullet point
2 of the 3 answers are correct and one needs to be improved - identify the weaker response and improve
Identify grammar points - verbs, adjectives, connectives and build your own answer
Les portables en France
Reading text talking about the use of mobile phones in France followed by a translation activity + comprehension questions. Can be used with high-achieving Y11s and KS5. I used it with my Ab Initio Y12 group but it was too much for them but with a more able group would probably be fine. Encourage students to identify question words and give full sentences in response.
French verbs + translations booklet
I use this with KS4 & KS5 to revise verbs / tenses and practise translations
Running dictation French
A simple running dictation. Students work in pairs - 1 runner, 1 speaker. Slips of paper are printed and stuck around the room / corridor. Students practise all 4 skills while working together. They can translate the sentences, add to make them better or work on writing a longer essay when done
Si clauses (imperfect + conditional)
Sentences to practise using this grammar point. I have used it with (top set) Y9, KS4 & KS5
Y11 French revision prompts
Can be used for speaking or writing specifically or more generally to prompt retrieval of topic-specific vocabulary. Get the students to write all the words they know about a specific topic or write all the verbs associated with that particular topic etc. Aimed towards Cambridge iGCSE but could be adapted for any board.
Year 11 Writing practise - iGCSE
Assister a un mariage - Q3 Cambridge iGCSE exam board but can be adapted to any board and language used from practise regardless. 5 bullet points - 2 options per bullet point, 1 set for weaker student, the other set for more able. Can be used in a variety of ways - (1) pair the answers to the bullet point (2) translate (3) use as a model to write their own (4) identify different grammar points
Holidays - Les francais en vacances
Could be used with a top set Y11 (or gifted Y9 / Y10) or even KS5. Reading text, followed by translations, followed by comprehension questions. Lots of scope for cultural discussion and grammar discovery.
