An entire SoL focussed on oracy and developing academic discussion. The unit of work zooms in on a different character from a Shakespearean play and looks at them using feminist, race or gender theory to challenge students’ thinking. SoL is easily adaptable to be changed into a reading focus. There is an oracy assessment built in to the slides. Lessons 1-4: build context of Shakespeare and critical theory Lessons 5-13: A series of extracts which can be taught in any order. Lesson 14-17: Oracy Assessment planning and completing. Glue in map and talk through what happens and, as you talk through each one, students can plot it and draw a picture based on the writing on the slide. This would work well with KS3 or KS4 as you can make it more challenging for GCSE Classical Civilisations.

The MAT includes structures, sentence starters and an example paragraph on ACC. This is designed with the AQA exam board in mind.
