Differentiated Equivalent Fractions Homework activity - aimed and used with a mixed ability year 5 class. The sheet covers; writing equivalent fractions using a diagram, identifying the odd one out, filling in the missing numbers,and solving worded problems. It moves through fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions. I designed this for use with one of my Year 5 classes, but could also be used in Year 6. I found it to be very useful as I began to build up a bank of questions and answers. I learned that all the questions can interlink with each other, and that all questions require an example from your experience, as well as always linking back to pupil progress. Please note I created this resource before the Covid-19 pandemic, so its possible schools are now asking about remote education and how covid has affected schools and children’s education.

Used as part of a Year 4 writing unit, where children are writing a Newspaper Report about the fight between Beowulf and Grendel, where Grendel is defeated The sheet contains the first person accounts/eyewitness statements written in the point of view from those involved with the fight - as if they had been interviewed by a reported. Children can then lift quotes from this to use during their newspaper report. Editable word document included. In this activity, children are creating their own Newspaper headlines from the events described in the grid, using Who, What, Where, When, Why and How. Originally used as part of a Beowulf themed Newspaper writing unit and has since been used in Year 4 and 5. Children were to create several headlines using the information in the grid or their own, using the grid for ideas or to start. Editable grid so can easily be adapted to your children’s interests or current class topic, or extra rows can be added or text removed etc.

A simple success criteria for children writing a newspaper report in Year 4. Two columns on the sheet, for self and teacher assessment. Also included the publisher files so that a column can easily be added for peer-assessment.

A short and simple activity where children need to identify if the statement is either a fact or opinion. Used with a Year 4 and 5 class as a starter during a Newspaper Report writing unit. Also includes an extension task where children are creating their own sentences for their partner to then identify if their statements are facts or opinions. Editable word document included.

A helpful sheet / success criteria for children use to self or peer assess their own diary writing. Used with a Year 4 and 5 class for them to self assess, then peer assess their own independent writing at the end of the unit. The sheet is a word document so can be easily edited and adapted.

A simple differentiated success criteria for children writing a diary entry in Year 5. Also contains an adapted sheet for peer-assessment, where children are self and peer assessing. This is a word document so an extra column could easily be added for teacher assessment.

You will need physical Base 10 Blocks or similar (e.g. printed bar models) for the children to use alongside this worksheet. Children are asked to prove and show different number and fraction facts using the physical resources. Both pages are identical for easy A5 printing. Aimed at and used with Year 5 during their Fractions unit.

This activity asks children to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number using the grid method, then the part whole model, and then partitioning without a visual support (i.e just showing their working in their book). I used this with Year 4 to recap the grid method and part whole models before moving onto column multiplication. The worksheet is differentiated 3 ways. Word and pdf files included. This resource is aimed at Year 3 children, who are learning how to multiply using the Grid Multiplication method. This worksheet covers 3x, 4x and 8x. Another sheet covers worded problems for the HA children. Learning Objective: I can use the grid method to multiply two-digit numbers by 3, 4 and 8. Includes answers.

This sheet shows the children the method to use when dividing by sharing. The example shows 6 ÷ 3 using sharing circles. This is ideal to stick into children’s books, to help with a lesson or to be a part of a learning guide folder. I used these with a mixed age Y2/3 class to help them to remember the method during the lesson.

A simple starter where children are finding and identifying adverbs. The paragraph is based around the story of Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo. I have used this as a starter activity, revision and as part of a main lesson in Year 4, 5 and 6.

Here are a few column addition questions aimed at a Year 3/4 class. I used this for an interview lesson so there are only a few questions for each level - ideal for use as a starter or a quick recap session! A simple sheet of Wow Words (adjectives) for children to use as a scaffold when writing descriptions. Children could use these as part of a learning journal or have them available on their desks whilst writing to improve their vocabulary. I made this KS2 Spag guide for the children and parents in my Year 4 class. I designed it for home learning but could also be useful back in the classroom. There are 2 variations: Homelearning/revision/parent guide based A useful tool for children to use whilst writing at home, including links to bitesize and songs where appropriate. Classbased - essentially the same as the home version except I have removed the links to online resources. I used these in learning journals or stuck in the back of literacy books for children to refer to, so I felt it looked neater if the links were removed. This is a commutative multiplication worksheet - aimed at Year 3 children. The worksheet has been differentiated 3 ways and could be used as a starter, main activity (depending on ability) and also a recap lesson. Word documents provided for ease of editing. Learning Objective: To be able to understand what commutative means and that multiplication is commutative and division is not.

This is a prepositions lesson/activity themed around the story of Beowulf. I used this spag activity as part of a larger writing unit, where children were retelling the story of Beowulf. Ideal for Year 3/4. Differentiation: the higher achievers were expected to write more sentences including prepositions and extend them using conjunctions and other grammatical devices we had been learning about.
