I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - it’s useful to point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents , such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word.
There are 25 animals featured in the game:
bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle
All the animals may not be in your immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply practising or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too.
There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary.
Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again.
The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.

25 high-frequency French RE verbs in the present tense with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 questions, in two design formats:
Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new French RE verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful French verb bank.
Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs. The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack.
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences, use of depuis & present tense and various question formats in French. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practicing and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them. = Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a French infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding French verb conjugation.
= Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the French translation from an English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.

An instant introduction to 25 vegetables in German. Share essential beginner German vocabulary to use in everyday talk with students from the beginning of their German learning programme. The key focus is on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, and it’s useful to start to compare these with the indefinite article. This is a successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction.
The set is useful not only when you are introducing and practising German vegetables, but also for developing German language skills and awareness in general. Students are able to familiarise themselves with how German words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. Students do not necessarily learn all 25 fruits at once, but classroom display is a meaningful teaching and learning tool to maximise students’ exposure to related vocabulary.
The set can also be used as speaking prompts, such as Was ist das? to Ja / nein or Richtig / falsch questions, which enable students to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite challenging in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist keine Karotte, das ist eine Kartoffel. and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practising the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohl, ich habe den Blumenkohl.
The vegetables are:
artichoke : asparagus : beetroot : broccoli : cabbage : carrots : cauliflower : celery : corn : cucumber : eggplants / aubergines : French / green beans : garlic : leeks : lettuce : mushrooms : onions : peas : red peppers : yellow pepper : potatoes : sprouts : spinach : sweet potatoes : tomato
The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two design formats to choose from - German flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum, so 50 flashcards / posters in total.

Italian Christmas Io ho… Chi ha… ? is a whole-group lively and communicative language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompts of the Italian Christmas images, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing Italian Christmas vocabulary. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too.
The aim of the game is to arrange the cards in the relevant order. Students can either create a human chain, holding the cards themselves, or a card line, on the floor, a longish table or other flat surface. There are 32 Italian Christmas words with images, and it’s likely that students will have more than one card each per game, depending on the size of the class. The vocabulary and images provide a really useful stimulus for discussion about Christmas traditions and practices in Italian-speaking countries.
There are two games, each with a different challenge:
= Challenge 1: the nouns written out in full with the definite article, and the Q & A Io ho… Chi ha…? Students walk around, calling out the question.
= Challenge 2: the nouns are in a different order, with only the definite article, and the Q & A ***Hi…? Sì (No), io ho…***. This challenge puts students’ vocabulary recall to the test, and students walk around, addressing other students individually.
Play either as a whole-group game, or as a team game - which team can complete the challenge first? You can either play the challenges consecutively, or as a team game, swapping the challenges so that each team has a chance to play both challenges.

Perfect for developing French language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising numbers 0-21 in French. There are 36 differentiated questions, answer key, recording sheet and number reference sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students.
Challenge cards are really versatile too - use them not only when you’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for cover lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students.
All the questions are in French, including a range of French maths language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use***maths symbols as visual clues and prompts***, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. Depending on the particular group, I may read through the questions together as a whole-group first.

Task / challenge cards are an ideal language learning activity, and really help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. This set focuses on French numbers 0-31, which is usually described as beginner French vocabulary. The questions however are aimed more at advanced beginner French students and are also useful as a general skills refreshers for those preparing to enter into intermediate French.
The questions are entirely in French, with reference to French mathematical vocabulary, and range in complexity and challenge. To maximise the learning potential of the questions, look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group activity, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files:
= 48 differentiated question cards - laminate if possible, as they will remain in excellent condition for years. Print out as single pages, rather than individual cards, as this saves prep time
= answer key - this can also be laminated, and shared among groups of students for class work
= recording sheet - simply print as many as your particular groups need. Students generally use their class workbooks for working out and noting responses, though recording sheets are definitely useful for more formal assessment purposes.

An instant introduction to a range of colours in French in the classroom, introducing learners to colours in French from the very beginning of their learning, and helping them familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of French words, and how sounds are represented in the written form.
Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from, other languages, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts, and how adjectives may change according to gender and number. This is really useful for both current and later learning. Use the flashcards / posters for quick speaking refreshers at various points in an individual lesson, or across a series of lessons, really getting the most out of the display.
The key colours are: black; blue; brown (both brun and marron); cream (both crème and vanilla); green; grey; navy blue; orange; bright pink; pink; purple; red; turquoise; white; yellow. There’s also a poster / flashcards showing the French Flag. There are two backgrounds to choose from: French Flag (Tricolore) and plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum. Print on card stock and / or laminate if you can, as they are easier to manipulate as flashcards, display much more effectively as decor, and remain in excellent condition for years.
It doesn’t matter if some of the colours don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French.

Students notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are une. Use this as a prompt to introduce the concept of gender in French.
There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which is a great opportunity to begin to compare French to English. There are some insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as ours and loup. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from their first language, helps students become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, which is really useful for both current and later learning.
The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel : a turtle / a tortoise : a wolf
It doesn’t matter if some of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters / flashcards provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual clues or prompts.
There are three sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, each with a different background for you to choose from: French flag, animal footprint or black wave.
