A lesson which takes pupils step-by-step through forming ideas for a picture based creative writing task and how to structure their response. Mainly for use with younger year groups or those of lower ability.

This creative writing piece uses an empty fairground setting as inspiration. Depending on pupil ability it could be used over the course of two or three lessons. A clear structure is provided with some writing frame sentence starters and modelled paragraphs.

A lesson to use before studying Macbeth - it encourages students to consider the motives behind murdering the king and the different feelings of the characters. It is also a great activity to use as a speaking and listening piece both for group work and for drama.

A lesson aimed to encourage pupils to begin experimenting with structural techniques in order to reach the higher levels in creative writing tasks. This lesson focusses on the use of recurring motifs through the use of lines from nursery rhymes.

The fourth in a series of lessons focussed on the fairies. This lesson looks at the animals that the fairies are scared of and how that links to Oberon's plan. See my other resources for the lead up to this lesson.

A revision booklet designed for use with lower ability GCSE classes in preparation for the new specification exams. The booklet aims to narrow down the number of quotes the students will need to memorise while also allowing room for them to make notes on the way characters and themes link to context.

This powerpoint introduces some of the main themes of 1:1 and the play as a whole. It tackles the scene in a simple way that reassures students Shakespeare isn't so hard while also introducing some complex ideas about interpretation of the witches and the context of the play. This is the first in a series of lessons on Macbeth - I hope to be uploading more soon.

This lesson focuses on the first time fairies appear in the play and can be used as a one off lesson or at the start of a scheme of work about the play. It is designed for use with Y7 but may be of use to Y6 classes too as it takes a very simple step-by-step approach to analysing Shakespearean language. Can also be used as a lead into my 'forests and faeries' creative writing lessons.

A revision guide for use with lower ability sets that covers all the basics of Animal Farm's main characters and their context.

A one-off lesson which can be used with KS3 classes to introduce them to the basic plot of 'Frankenstein' as part of a study of gothic literature or as part of a creative writing scheme. The lesson involves finding the techniques which Shelley has used and then putting them into practice by writing a modern day version of the monster's creation.

A creative writing lesson that encourages pupils to consider the importance of vocab choice in creating detailed description as well as focussing on the difference between simile and metaphor by describing mythical creatures. Can be used with previous lesson about describing a forest or could be used as a one-off writing piece.

This is the first lesson in a Year 7 SOW developing a Survival Guide booklet. This lesson focuses on how to create a front cover for the booklet which will suit the target audience and purpose.
