This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2. For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 25 after the completion of Component 1. It has two presentations, one is 17 slides and is an introduction into the differences between health and social care services. Social care is included as the PSA case study will face barriers which need overcoming with support which may be social care based. This will be built on the following week where primary, secondary and tertiary services are explained. The second is 27 slides and gives opportunities for paired/group or whole class discussions so students can make their notes on activity work sheets in their own words. These will be a source of reference in the PSA. Students will be expected to know the eleven different health conditions listed below and have an understanding of PIES needs for each as a stepping stone for looking at the provision for meeting their health needs with services. Included is homework for both Levels 1 and 2. This is suggested practical teaching week. There is one presentations of 70 slides and a worksheet for notes covering different health indicators. BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 - a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what is needed for the life stage Adolescence (9-18 years-olds) If you are following my SoW this is Week 4 is the delivery of all aspects covering growth and development in the second life stage, childhood 3-8 years. The pace has to be reasonably fast to get the content delivered, there is one PowerPoint you can use split for different lessons. All the spec content is included in one presentation with 52 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. This will allow the lesson to finish on a slide that suits you, however, to keep up with the SoW the whole of the below will need to be delivered in one week. The content cover is as per the spec… • physical: onset of puberty, differences between males and females, primary and secondary sexual characteristics • intellectual: complex and abstract thinking develops • emotional: independence increases further, more freedom to make own decisions, concerns over self-image and self-esteem may increase, emotional wellbeing is based on attachment, security and contentment • social: wide range of formal/informal relationships develop and have influence, intimate relationships are formed The resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need. There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date All the spec content relates to PIES development with the first presentation which is 36 slides covering Inherited Factors which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. There is a second presentation of 46 slides which then covers the rest of A2.Physical Illness and disabilities The content covered is:- Physical factors: • inherited conditions – sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, • Marfan syndrome and Huntington’s disease • experience of illness and disease • mental ill health – anxiety, stress • physical ill health – cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes • disabilities • sensory impairments All the resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need.
