Pollution in China - Geography of China 5

This is a full 1 hour lesson that introduces pollution in China to 11-14 year old students. The lesson is part of a unit on the Geography of China, though it could easily be adapted to other place based examples or a general lesson on the causes and effects of urban and industrial pollution. The lesson consists of 1 powerpoint and 5 worksheets including a differentiated resource - please see the sample images. Learning Outcome 1 - 'I understand the causes of environmental pollution in China.' Learning Outcome 2 - 'I understand the negative social effects of environmental pollution in China.' In the lesson we look at: - Causes and effects of pollution in China - A drama based activity that requires imagination and group work - An extended piece of writing The lesson is designed to be visually engaging, with 'to the point' content that's easy to pick up and run with at short notice. Ease of use is my aim, so the lesson includes a compact presentation with instructions and guidance in the notes section below each slide, it also includes fully referenced handouts with printing instructions and is of course, proof read. This is a full 1 hour lesson that introduces working conditions in Chinese factories to students aged 11-14 years. The lesson is part of a unit on the Geography of China, though it could easily be adapted to other place based examples or a general lesson on working conditions and factories. The lesson includes 1 powerpoint presentation and 2 worksheets. The lesson is primarily concerned with the issue of factory working conditions in developing countries and how it affects quality of life for the workers, the preceding lesson in the sequence covers the benefits of manufacturing and the following lesson in the sequence covers pollution. Learning Outcome 1 - 'I understand what it’s like to work in some Chinese factories' In the lesson we look at: - Who are Foxconn - Working conditions in their factories - Reasons why these jobs are still in demand - How this affects us Ease of use is my aim, so the lesson includes a compact presentation with instructions and guidance in the notes section below each slide, it also includes fully referenced handouts with printing instructions and is of course proof read. This is a full 1 hour GCSE lesson that introduces urban site, situation and connectivity through a case study of Rio De Janeiro. The lesson is part of a unit on urban change and challenges on the new Ed-Excel spec, though it could easily be adapted to other specifications. Learning Outcome 1 - 'I understand how site, situation and connectivity of a megacity, at various scales have affected its growth and function.' This lesson covers the following themes: - Megacities - Urban growth - Economic change - Regeneration - Site situation and connectivity The lesson looks at the factors that shaped Rio in the first place focusing on place, space and scale. Unit: IBDP Geography - Resources (16-18) Lesson: 3 - Consumption & Availability: Water, Land & Food Key Concepts: Embedded water, Water Footprint, Nutrient Transition This is a 2 hour ‘post-16’ lesson for IB Diploma students that investigates how much water we use, how we use it and how much water is available. It also focusses on how rising food consumption impacts water and land resources. The lesson is the third in the unit on Resources. The lesson covers the following: ⇨ The scale and impact of water consumption in HICs, MICs and LICs and how this differs. ⇨ The concept of embedded water, the water footprint method and water exports. ⇨ Global water availability. ⇨ The impact food production has on land use and agricultural land / soil. ⇨ The concept of ‘nutrient transition’ from staple crops to meat in developing countries. ⇨ Explaining trends in food consumption and availability around the world. This lesson is designed for ease of use, the key concepts are explained in a straightforward manner going into just the right amount of depth. Students then use a combination of tasks and data analysis to explore the concepts in context. Included in Lesson: ⇨ Presentation: A powerpoint, including all images, text and online links (found in the notes section). ⇨ Printable Handouts: Pdf. This is a full 1 hour lesson that is focused on regeneration. The lesson requires students to analyse and evaluate a series of potential regeneration schemes and make a decision on their preferred option. This is the fourth lesson of a ‘Geography of Sport’ unit at KS3. It is also part of a bundle pack available in my shop. Learning Outcome 1 – 'I can analyse a range of regeneration projects and evaluate their effectiveness before selecting a ‘preferred option’ for a regeneration scheme in London.' This is a full 1 hour GCSE lesson that comprehensively covers river features such as meanders, floodplains, levees, interlocking spurs, waterfalls and deltas and how they are formed. It also looks at river sediment transportation and process. The lesson would also work as a revision sheet as we've found that students struggle with these processes and they're essential for progression in the exam. The lesson is part of a unit covering 'Topic 3: Why is there a variety of river landscapes in the UK and what are the processes that shape them?' on the new Ed-Excel B spec, though it could easily be adapted to other specifications or graded down for KS3. Aim:- 'To understand that rivers have a range of features and these are formed through erosional and depostional processes.'
