Times Tables Practice Games KS2

Fun times tables revision activities! Speed up students’ mental recall with these easy-to-prepare, printable, well-differentiated times tables facts board games. Use as starter activities / warm ups in Key Stage 2 (especially Year 4, 5 and 6 - Y4 / Y5 / Y6) Maths lessons, or early finisher activities, morning starters, or as part of a multiplication unit. There are 24 pages of boards (multiple versions of the same boards for differentiation and eco-printing), together with full instructions for the teacher. Simply choose the pages you want to print and laminate for children to play using dry-wipe / whiteboard pens. In Scotland, use for Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7. CONTENTS: Boards 1-4 feature 2 to 9 times tables calculations Boards 5-8 are versions of the first four boards with some 11 and 12 times table calculations added All boards come in colour and black and white versions **Further differentiation: **All 2-9 times table versions come in a differentiated format too, with sidebars added, featuring all answers listed in numerical order. This works really well with lower ability or younger pupils who require a little more support. They can score through the number they have used each time. The boards were originally designed to be printed in A3 size so you may need to quickly adjust your printer settings to print in A4, which works fine too. INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer over a times table question on the board. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The times tables questions are designed to print in faintish grey (on the black and white versions) or white (on the colour versions) so as not to get in the way of the children’s answers. It works especially well if pupils roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again. THIS RESOURCE IS AVAILABLE IN SOME GREAT VALUE BUNDLES - PLEASE EXPLORE BELOW. Scale Drawings / Scale Factors

(1)
KS2 (Year 5 / Year 6 - Y5 and Y6) Scale Drawings Maths Game: An engaging and differentiated game to consolidate understanding of scale drawing / scale factors in a fun way. It’s also an enjoyable way of practising times tables (if using the standard version) or decimal multiplication (if using the Challenge version). The children act as engineers, working their way around the board using scale drawings (24 cards included) and throwing a counter onto a target to discover which scale - in ratio notation - to apply each time, once they have made a measurement of the drawing. Teaching Notes and Pupil Instruction Card included. Differentiation: Alongside the standard version there’s a Challenge Version for older/more able learners that requires pupils to deal with decimal lengths (a second set of 24 cards included) and to convert between cm, m and km, using a separate scale target board when scaling up. I recommend blowing the gameboards up to A3 for use with bigger groups although A4 would be fine. I suggest printing the cards on different coloured paper to help keep sets separate, especially if using both versions with different groups. The Scale Target boards are colourful so black and white versions are included should you prefer. I hope your pupils enjoy playing it. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for a review. Many thanks. Doubles and Halves Games 2 / 3 digits

(1)
Doubling and Halving 2 and 3 digit numbers printable game boards. These 10 printable Four in a Row games are ideal for Key Stage 2 (KS2), especially Year 4, 5 and 6 (Y4 / Y5 / Y6). Use as Maths starters / warm ups, early finishers activities etc. All boards (and answer grids) are included in color and black and white. The range of challenge across these games means they suit a range of grades or would be ideal for differentiation within the same class. In Scotland, it suits Second Level Maths, especially Primary 5, 6 and 7. Includes: A One Star game for both doubling and halving for younger or lower ability pupils - sidebars are included, featuring all answers, which children can strike through when used. However, I have also included these without the answer sidebars in case your students don’t need this added support. These games focus on lower 2-digit numbers and multiples of 10. 2 medium challenge doubling and halving boards (Two Stars), including some larger – and trickier – two and three digit numbers. 2 higher challenge doubling and halving boards (Three Stars). These feature mostly larger three digit numbers (and the halving of some four digit numbers). Laminate and use again and again. Two players per board (or 4 if working in a pair). Printing in A3 is best for a larger group but A4 works too. Opponents take it in turns to double (or find half of – depending on which game they’re playing) a number on the board. Using a different coloured dry-wipe marker from each other, they mark the answer in the appropriate box. It works particularly well if they roll a dice to determine which column they must answer a question in (columns are numbered 1-6). If the column they’ve rolled has all been completed, they could either roll again or miss a go. If different coloured markers are not available, children could put their initial or a symbol next to their answer. First to correctly answer a line of 4 in a row – vertically, horizontally, diagonally – wins. Answer grids can be printed for students to self-check if required or they could use a calculator at the end to check if they are correct. Calculating Change from Five Pounds Money Games: differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for calculating change from £5, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. Printable games for starters, early finishers activities, revision etc. FOUR IN A ROW A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (Y3 / Y4 / Y5 / Y6) but might suit others. In Scotland, it’s for Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7. Includes: 2 PDF files 2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other) 2 lower ability boards (same as above but less challenging calculations) Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by students or teacher Teacher notes Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £5, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required. LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success. Angles Game Year 5 / 6

(2)
Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 / 6 printable activity for classifying angles (identifying angle types), turns, 8-point compass, missing angles etc. A game board and 80 question cards (differentiated at two levels) to add variety and fun to angles work in Upper Primary Y5 and Y6 (or Second Level Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland). It could suit other ages for differentiation and revision. It mixes up different aspects of the topic in a fun self-checking learner-directed activity, allowing the teacher to work with other groups. There are additional challenges for the children to complete as they move around the board. All in a 15-page PDF file. Differentiation: There’s a more challenging Green version, while the Blue one is for younger or less able learners. A different set of question cards is provided for each game. In the Green version, questions 1-20 focus on identifying angle types / names (acute, right, straight, obtuse, reflex) and 21-40 involve turns and the 8-point compass. Questions 40-50 deal with working out missing angle sizes on a straight line, vertically opposite angles, angles around a point etc. It should be simple for you to weed out any questions that have not yet been covered. In the Blue version, questions 1-20 focus on less challenging questions about identifying angles and 21-30 bring in turns and the 8-point compass. I used different coloured card for additional sets so they didn’t get muddled, and laminated them. I recommend blowing up game boards to A3 for use with bigger groups. PE Active Maths and Fitness Game KS2

(0)
PE, Numeracy and communication skills mix in this fun active relay fitness game for Primary (Key Stage 2, especially Year 4, 5 and 6). Great for outdoor learning or special events such as National Maths Week, to have children practising mental calculations in another curriculum area. Alternatively, use this activity as a warm up to add variety to your normal Physical Education programme. Good teamwork and communication should be encouraged as teammates help each other to work out the calculations and guide each other to the possible answer cards, while navigating around the hidden Exercise Cards (which force the team to divert onto a variety of athletic challenges!). 4 files are included: large versions of game boards and cards in PDF, small versions, plus editable exercise card files (both sizes - in PPT), in case you wish to add some of your own exercise ideas. Print and laminate the boards and cards you require. No equipment is necessary and the game can be played in a gym hall or outside space. Answer key included. INSTRUCTIONS (Also included within the file): Split students into up to 7 groups, giving each a calculation board. Shuffle the number cards and as many exercise cards (12 included) as you wish, spreading them out face down at the other end of the playing area. You may wish to remove the answer cards for any board not in use. Teams send one person at a time running to collect a card. On each go, students must only turn over one card. If they know it is not an answer to any calculations on their board, they replace it, or else they can bring it back to their team to check and the next team member can replace it if it is not required, before collecting another card. If a player turns over an Exercise Card, they must bring it back to their group and the whole team must perform the stipulated exercises. When all members are finished the exercise, the next runner can set off for another card. The winners are the first team to cover all their calculations with the correct answer cards. There are two of each number card, as each answer features on two boards, helping to ensure a faster game. To speed up the game or to add an extra element, include as many Pass Cards as you like. If children turn over a Pass Card they can place it over any calculation they want, for instance if they are finding a calculation too difficult or if there is an answer card they are struggling to find. For differentiation, use mixed ability groups or else grant certain groups extra pass cards to cover more challenging calculations. To ensure a smooth game, circulate with the answer key for at-a-glance checking. If groups have accidentally taken another group’s answer card, ensure they quickly replace it so as not to hamper the progress of other teams. Thank you for your interest.

Within each box is a fraction / calculation and a letter. Pupils circle any boxes containing incorrect answers or errors such as non-equivalent fractions (depending on which puzzle it is). Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There's a further question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word. Students often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. Rounding Games

(0)
Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths games for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format. Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.   Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any box on any row, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!   If you don’t have a 0-9 dice: Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file) Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)   Instructions are printed on the boards.   Thank you very much for supporting my store.   YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE… Maths Puzzles Worksheets HUGE BUNDLE Place Value CrossNumber Puzzles Area and Perimeter Activities BUNDLE   Explore more at FullShelf Resources

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths dice games for place value up to millions and decimals to 3 places. Includes games for 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions) and 1, 2 and 3 decimal places (tenths, hundredths and thousandths). A fun, more challenging and strategic twist on an old idea, these 19 games will make students think carefully about where to place digits, practise their ordering skills, develop interesting tactics and prolong the uncertainty until the final moments. 24 pages, PDF format. Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups. There is a mixture of Make the Biggest Number, Make the Smallest Number and Greater or Less Than games   Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty! Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.   If you don’t have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Fractions of Amounts Games BUNDLE

2 Resources
A bundle of Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) activities for finding Fractions of Quantities: differentiated Four in a Row Games and Active Card Game. Also known as Fractions of a Set / of a Group / of Whole Numbers etc. Originally made for Year 5 and Year 6. Great for lesson starters, early finishers tasks and revision. Includes: 6 Four-in-a-Row Games (3 levels, 2 of each) 54 Card Printable Team Treasure Hunt (Differentiated) Answer keys included. Please check the individual resource pages and previews to see if the calculations provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students. These activities were made for revision and consolidation in Year 5 and 6 but might suit other years too. You can also purchase these 2 resources as part of my bigger Fractions Activities BUNDLE, along with Hidden Word Puzzles Worksheets for a variety of Fractions concepts. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE MORE INFORMATION - FOUR IN A ROW: Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). Students write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. MORE INFORMATION - TREASURE HUNT: This can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included. Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back. Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! Perimeter Game Year 5 / 6

Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Y5 and Y6 perimeter games: 10 bingo / lotto game boards and 60 cards are included in this differentiated pack. There are 5 boards and 30 cards in two sets. ALL ANSWERS ARE INCLUDED. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7. Each child or pair has a board with 6 perimeter answers on it. The cards feature 2D shapes with the measurements of some sides marked on, which the children use to work out the perimeter. Children have a board each or per pair. I recommend having one perimeter shape card turned over at a time and all players working out if it matches the perimeter answer on their board. Lower and higher ability versions both contain a variety of squares, rectangles, irregular quadrilaterals and triangles, while the two-star version also features compound shapes. The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in metres. The two-star version includes decimal numbers and some conversion between centimetres and metres. Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo /lotto game, with individuals or pairs working out the perimeter and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it. If you don’t need to use both versions at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate. Identifying, estimating, and measuring angles activities for Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2): 36 cards for a variety of fun, self-directed practical activities and games to consolidate naming (identifying / classifying) , estimating, measuring and drawing angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex). Originally designed for a mixed ability Y5 (Primary 6 in Scotland) but could be used for Y6 (Primary 7) for revision or differentiation. Answer Card (angle type and measurement) and Pupil Instruction Cards for all activities included. There’s Teaching Notes with further explanations and learning intentions. To consolidate or review understanding of angle types, Snap can be played, pupils calling ‘Acute!’ or ‘Reflex!’ etc as appropriate instead of ‘Snap!’ Alternatively, print out the Angle Type name cards included in the pack and play a game of Which Angle?. More able learners can combine their estimation of angle size with mental addition in the 2 Estimation Challenges. Of course they can just be used for practising estimating angle size and then calculating the degrees using a protractor. Also included is an instruction card for angle drawing challenges that don’t involve any cards. Finally, there’s a set of 20 acute, obtuse or right angles for younger or lower ability pupils to do a sorting activity Acute, Obtuse or Right? They’re smaller as they don’t need to be measured. There’s an answer card for this set too so pupils can check angle names. I hope your class enjoy investigating angles with these resources.
