Un match de foot - talking about a football match in the past tense KS3
Based on a resource in the textbook VoilĂ 2. this PowerPoint offers further practice on manipulating the perfect tense in French. It will need updating in terms of players to modernise it over the years, but the French Perfect tense will stay the French Perfect tense.

The film undoubtedly explores and challenges pre-conceived ideas. This questionnaire could be given to students before they watch the film and then again after to check whether their attitude has changed.

Dates in French - with reference to 1st World War
Part of a cross-curricular revision unit on the 1st world war with dates of birth and deaths of those fallen for France.
Can be used primarily to revise days of the week and months of the year in French, also to show how 11th November is commemorated in Poitiers and show the multiculturalism of the fallen (some have got German-sounding names, Jewish-sounding names, Arabic-sounding names, Basque and Spanish-sounding names), a couple are women.

Feedback form for preparation for mock exams -pair/ group assessment
An opportunity for students to assess/ reflect on their/ others’ contribution to pair/group work and their review of it.

This is a presentation going through various steps that will make someone a good linguist, based on the 6Rs . Motivation in Spanish and French.

KS3 MFL Rewards system (an example that can be adapted)
Throughout the UK, it is a struggle to get students to continue with languages… Many reasons for this, most of them cultural, not enough space here to go into details.
This is an example of a booklet that KS3 students would keep with them relying on a system of stickers awarded (stickers could be replaced by comments) and test results. The idea is that by the time it’s options evening/ options choice time in Year 9, students would have a record of what they have achieved and how well they did. It is also good PR with parents, management etc… to show positive tracking.
The document can clearly be adapted to suit any school.

Job interviews French - entretiens d'embauche - L'emploi
Ideally this PowerPoint would be used with the extract of the 2011 film Intouchables by Olivier Nakache and Éric Tolédano with François Cluzet and Omar Sy. Very early on in the film there is a job interview scene where Driss and other candidates come for a job interview at Philippe’s home.
The PowerPoint looks at the vocabulary used to talk about one’s qualifications and relevant hobbies.
It can be used without watching the film too.
Part of it deals with gender agreement and the pronunciation of the sound r in French.

Talk about anything!!!
A 10 page list of conversation starters on frustrations, fears, regret, discomfort, dreams, future plans, positive feelings, changes and moral compass issues.
This should be a good prompt in knowing our students better, also a good ice-breaker.

Spanish vocabulary pre-GCSE to ask and answer questions, give opinions, clarify, apologise
This worksheet could be either used as a cover work sheet or a take home sheet to prepare for the speaking and writing exams mostly.
Can be used as a practise-out-loud task or composing conversations or writing transactional formulae e.g. in a shop, at a tourist office etc…
This is also a good list as to what to cover as a minimum by the time students get to Year 9.
