Primary PSHE - Year 4 - Respectful Communities Scheme of Work
This 4-week scheme of work is taken from the EC Publishing Primary PSHE scheme.
Our curriculum builds progressively, leading to this Year 4 unit on Respectful Communities. This unit builds on prior learning, helping students understand diversity, identity, and inclusion. In Reception, we celebrated differences through Incredible You by Rhys Brisenden. In Year 1, we explored our identities, strengths, and interests. In Year 2, we learned about diversity through Same but Different Too, identifying similarities and differences between ourselves and others. In Year 3, we focused on identity, learning about our ethnicities, nationalities, and roles as citizens. In Year 4, we will deepen our understanding of diversity and the importance of celebrating differences, before exploring new topics such as prejudice, discrimination, and stereotypes.

New PSHE lesson focusing on making responsible public health choices - such as getting vaccinated, become a blood or organ donor or taking part in stem cell research / donation. The lesson explains how vaccinations work, how misinformation has recently caused measles outbreaks in the UK, why blood and organ donation is a responsible public health choice, but also why some people may have religious objections.
All editable, easy to pick up and run with, all information included. Created for KS4 but could be used with KS3 or KS5. Includes sign-posting to further help provided from charities / hotlines.

Our progressive curriculum builds sequentially year-on-year, culminating in the Year 5 Protecting Our Environment unit, which deepens students’ understanding of environmental issues and climate change. Students will explore key concepts such as the causes of climate change, the importance of sustainable living, and actions we can take to protect the planet. They will also learn about the role of democracy in addressing environmental challenges, examining ways individuals can influence government policies on climate change and environmental protection.

All lessons include signposting to further help agencies and charities and clear, measurable outcomes.
All lessons are fully editable, engaging and very easy to follow.

2 HOURS - New PSHE lesson focusing on how to recognise abusive relationships, how people end up in them, why people can become abusive, what we mean by coercive control and exploitation and where to go for help. The lesson contains a wide variety of activities, from case studies and clip tasks, to analysis, literacy, creative tasks and more. Includes detailed lesson plan.
All editable, easy to pick up and run with, all information included. Created for KS4 but could be used with UKS3 or KS5. Includes sign-posting to further help provided from charities / hotlines for victims.
All editable for your setting, lesson will last around one hour. This lesson is taken from the new EC Publishing Complete 2025 PSHE Package which can be found at the EC Publishing website. Everything is editable and easy to pick up and run with and includes future DfE updates too.
