Thank you for looking at my resource.

This resource includes a fully comprehensive PowerPoint ,worksheets/resources catering to a wide range of abilities and a preparation list.

This is the second lesson in a sequence. The lesson can be taught independently without the need for the past or future lessons. This lesson can be picked up and taught straight from however is fully editable.

Children will start by recapping on the definition of a toy. This will lead into a reasoning/oracy task where children will discuss which of three toys they would most like to play with and why.

Children will be introduced to the 20th Century. Children will look at an overview of popular toys during this time and will discuss the changes they observe.

Throughout all of their toys lessons children will be actively thinking of historical sources of information. Considering what is a good source of information is and what might not be the best e.g children will think about how they aren’t a good expert group for toys from the 20th century as they weren’t alive during this era.

Children will focus on a popular 20th Century toy Lego. Children will generate research questions by asking the Lego questions. Question starters will be provided to support children form questions. After generating questions, the class will think about how they can find out the answers to their questions. As a whole class the internet will be used to answer the questions.

This will finally lead into an independent task where children will select the five most interesting facts they have learnt about Lego and write them in a Lego figure.

Helping hands (scaffolded support) is provided as well as a Chilli Challenge to broaden childrens’ understanding.
