Find here a lesson that can easily be slotted into a KS3 unit of work on the gothic.

Students are asked to explore the definition of ‘monster’, watch a clip from Frankenstein and then read a section of chapter 5.
This leads into the creative writing task using the style of ‘Magic, The Gathering’. I have found that the ‘flavour text’ of these cards engages students in going beyond the obvious. It allows them to develop thoughtful and interesting ways for their characters to behave.

This can be used over a couple of lessons or set for cover.
