Penistone Grammar School has a maternity cover vacancy for a full time (part time also considered) Teacher of Economics and possibly Business Studies and are seeking a teacher with the enthusiasm and drive to join our incredible Business Team.

Contract: Full time, Fixed term for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave (part time considered)

Salary Range: MPS/UPS (TLR2: £3390 per annum allowance may be available for an exceptional candidate)

Start Date:     1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026


About the role:

You will be a Teacher of Economics with some Business Studies, a first-class practitioner who will thrive upon the commitment our students have to their learning, a teacher who has the determination and talent to make a difference in the life of each and every student you teach; a teacher who shares our vision and can inspire our young people to achieve more than they believe is possible. For an exceptional candidate looking to develop your leadership knowledge, skills, and expertise there is a possible TLR role as Second in Department. 

Economics and Business Studies are extremely popular subjects at KS4 and KS5 and the successful candidate will have previous experience of teaching both GCSE and A Level;  A Level experience is particularly advantageous along with any 2nd in department experience.

Penistone Grammar School

Penistone Grammar School really is a special place to work. There’s no doubt that our amazing student body of 1900 students, including 300 Post 16 students, and our state-of-the-art building set in beautiful surroundings, make coming to work worthwhile. However, what really makes Penistone the school it is, is our staff. Our success as a school is directly attributable to the collaborative interaction and support between colleagues, complemented by a commitment to doing all they can for the benefit of each and every one of our students.
