A key aspect of the role includes developing partnerships with local artists and communities, including the coordination of artist-in-residence programmes.

  • Collaborate with teaching colleagues to integrate visual art meaningfully into broader units of learning and thematic work using the EYFS and National Curriculum as a basis.
  • Lead assessment and tracking of student progress in art, maintaining records and celebrating student achievements.

Community and Artist Engagement:

  • Develop and coordinate an artist-in-residence programme that brings local artists into the school to work with students and staff.
  • Create partnerships with Chiang Mai’s vibrant arts community to provide enrichment opportunities, gallery visits, exhibitions, and workshops.
  • Organise school-wide art events, exhibitions, and community art projects to showcase students’ work and build school identity.

Resources and Environment:

  • Set up and manage a well-organised and stimulating art studio with shared creative space suitable for all age groups.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and resources, ensuring responsible budgeting and sustainability in art practices.

Staff Collaboration and Support:

  • Support colleagues with art integration in class projects and provide guidance on the use of visual art in their teaching.
  • Offer training and guidance where appropriate on visual thinking, creativity, and artistic expression.

Wider Contribution:

  • Support the school’s ethos of creativity and innovation, contributing to extracurricular and whole-school initiatives.
  • Promote the values of inclusion, respect, and cultural diversity through the lens of visual art.
  • Engage actively in the life of the school community and contribute to its development during the founding phase.
  • Support the central display for the overall theme.
