Role Statement:
The Secondary teacher will:
• Teach the NSW curriculum and/or the International Baccalaureate Diploma curriculum, as required.
• Work in collaboration with staff teams to ensure optimum student learning.
• Participate actively in the school’s extracurricular program.
• Demonstrate a commitment to consistent professional learning.
• Make a positive contribution to the culture and ethos of the school.

Essential Criteria:
• Qualified practising teacher with high-level qualifications in the subject area(s).
• Ability to plan and deliver programs which are inclusive of second language learners. A willingness to support EAL students by requiring recognised qualifications is required.
• Ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds.
• Highly developed ICT skills and an ability to use technology as an integral part of teaching and learning.
• Understanding of, and expertise in, delivery of an outcomes-based curriculum.
• Effective communication skills with a wide range of groups and individuals – including colleagues, parents, students and members of the wider community.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of small and large teams.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Behave ethically, reflect positivity, demonstrate a growth mindset, commitment to continuous professional development and contribute to the school’s ethos and community life.
• Be a passionate, knowledgeable and proactive teacher with a commitment to wellbeing practices and positive psychology in education (i.e., PROSPER).

General Teaching Responsibilities:
The Secondary teacher 7-12 will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Developing and documenting effective teaching and learning programs.
• Maintaining complete and accurate class records, rolls, and data recording.
• Conducting regular and appropriate assessment.
• Provide regular and effective feedback to students.
• Fostering the academic, social-emotional and physical development of students.
• Engaging in and contributing to in the school’s Wellbeing programs for students and staff.
• Catering effectively for the range of abilities across each class group.
• Striving to achieve and maintain a high level of student morale and school spirit.
• Participating in the co-curricular life of the school which includes:
  • extra-curricular/after-school activities/sport
  • school camps
  • performance events/public events
  • outreach, service and community programs
  • parent functions
  • school publications
• Liaison with parents regarding student progress, including parent/teacher interviews.
• Maintaining classroom and public display areas for educative and aesthetic value.
• Completing rostered duties as required.
• Liaison with Head of Secondary, Deputy Heads of Secondary, Heads of Department, Directors and school administration regarding all aspects of teaching and administration.
• Actively supporting and enforcing all school policies, in particular, the uniform and behaviour codes.
• Participating in the collegial association of staff.

Any other duties as required by the Head of School.

 Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK) is a private school located in the Kowloon Tong region of the city. The school is co-educational, and teaches children from Reception to the conclusion of Secondary. Founded in 1995, there are approximately 1,100 students on the school roll. In 2001, students began learning in a new and significantly expanded complex. The school teaches for both the Australian NSW Higher School Certificate and the IB Diploma, with classes primarily in English.

Facilities on the 6000 square meter campus include science laboratories, visual arts department, and Learning Enrichment Centre. Performing Arts program comprises of orchestra, senior and junior rock bands, Primary choir, and the Secondary vocal ensemble. Dance and drama are offered through the extra-curricular program, and on a seasonal basis, special drama troupes are formed to stage theatrical productions.
