We are seeking a highly organised, warm and proactive Office & HR Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our busy school office and support the wellbeing of our wonderful staff team.
Liberty Woodland School is not a typical school—and this is not a typical school admin role. As a key member of the leadership support team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of both the administrative and HR functions, while keeping our unique, creative, and child-focused culture alive.
This is a full-time, all-year-round position suited to someone who thrives on variety, responsibility, and being the go-to person in a fast-paced school environment.
What You Will Do
Office Management & Administration
- Oversee the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the school office.
- Provide high-level administrative support to the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team.
- Be the first point of contact for parents, staff, visitors and external agencies.
- Manage school communications, diaries, calendars, meetings, and events.
- Ensure data systems are accurate, up-to-date and compliant with GDPR.
- Co-ordinate bookings for the minibus, school visits, events, and CPD days.
- Handle attendance records, admissions, school census returns and general correspondence.
- Provide light finance admin support including reconciliation of income, handling receipts, and liaising with the Finance Team.
HR & Recruitment
- Manage and co-ordinate the full recruitment cycle, ensuring adherence to safer recruitment practices.
- Maintain accurate HR records, support onboarding and manage induction paperwork.
- Lead on recording staff absence, leave, training, and compliance with 51ºÚÁÏ requirements.
- Prepare HR documentation and letters, track probation and appraisal reviews, and support payroll administration.
- Maintain HR systems and ensure all processes are efficient, secure and well organised.
Leadership & School Ethos
- Support the Head of School in promoting a professional, positive and inclusive school culture.
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, families and visitors.
- Actively participate in whole-school initiatives and take pride in being a visible, dependable and respected figure in the school.
Who You Are
- An experienced office manager or administrator with strong HR and recruitment knowledge.
- Exceptionally organised, detail-oriented and proactive.
- Highly competent with IT systems and admin software.
- A strong communicator with the ability to manage multiple relationships professionally and warmly.
- Reliable, resilient and solution-focused—comfortable with the busy rhythm of school life.
- Friendly, approachable and always calm under pressure.
- Enthusiastic about Liberty Woodland School’s outdoor, progressive and child-led approach.
- Previous experience in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
