Support Learning That Goes Beyond the Classroom

Are you ready to be part of something different? Liberty Woodland School is not your typical school—and this is not your typical teaching assistant role.

We’re looking for a passionate, energetic and kind Learning Associate to support the learning and wellbeing of a class of up to 20 children aged 4–11 in our unique outdoor-first, progressive school.

You’ll work alongside a Senior Learning Associate (Class Teacher) to help shape rich, cross-curricular projects, lead small group sessions in literacy and maths, and bring learning to life in the woods, fields and outdoor classrooms that make up our three-acre site.

If you're excited about helping children flourish emotionally, socially and academically—while working outdoors in a creative, team-focused environment—this might just be the role for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the delivery of child-led, project-based learning across the curriculum
  • Lead small group sessions in core subjects such as literacy and maths (training provided)
  • Help co-create a stimulating outdoor learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils, families and your teaching team
  • Accompany and safeguard children on the school bus one day per week, usually a Thursday
  • Promote independence, inclusion and creativity in every aspect of school life
  • Play an active role in the daily life and rhythms of a close-knit school community

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, approachable, and great with children
  • Genuinely excited by the idea of working outdoors in all weather
  • A natural team player who’s happy to get stuck in
  • Flexible, proactive, and positive under pressure
  • A strong communicator with a passion for helping children grow
  • Kind, resilient and aligned with our values of curiosity, independence and kindness
  • Experience in a school or outdoor education setting is desirable but not essential.

Why Join Liberty Woodland School?

  • Be part of an innovative, nurturing school that’s doing education differently
  • Work on a beautiful, three-acre site filled with nature, creativity and adventure
  • Collaborate with a supportive, passionate team that values joy, growth and community
  • Take part in meaningful CPD, team-building and shared learning opportunities
  • Make a real impact on children’s lives every single day
