Job Title: International High School College Counselor
Job Summary​​
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced College Counselor to join our dynamic international high school team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding students through the college admission process, providing personalized academic and career planning, and fostering relationships with colleges and universities worldwide. The counselor will also play a key role in developing and implementing the school’s college counseling program, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and the needs of a diverse student body.

Key Responsibilities​​
1. College Admission Guidance​​
Provide individualized college counseling to students and families, including identifying potential colleges/universities, evaluating academic fit, and creating tailored application plans.
Conduct workshops and group sessions on topics such as standardized testing (SAT/ACT/AP), essay writing, application strategies, and financial aid/scholarship opportunities.
Assist students in preparing and submitting college applications , including personal statements, supplemental essays, and extracurricular profiles.
Review and provide constructive feedback on application materials to ensure competitiveness and alignment with institutional goals.
2. Career and Academic Planning​​
Help students explore career interests through personality assessments (e.g., Holland Code, MBTI) and guide them toward suitable academic pathways.
Collaborate with academic departments to ensure students’ coursework aligns with their post-secondary goals (e.g., IB Diploma, A-Level subjects, or AP courses).
Organize career fairs, university panels, and mock interviews to prepare students for higher education success.
3. University Relationship Management​​
Build and maintain relationships with colleges and universities globally , participating in recruitment events and promoting the school’s international programs.
Serve as a liaison between schools and higher education institutions, facilitating campus visits, information sessions, and application support.
Stay updated on international admission trends (e.g., test-optional policies, holistic admissions) and advise students/parents accordingly.
4. Student and Family Support​​
Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to address academic, social, and emotional challenges related to the college admission process.
Provide guidance on financial aid, scholarships, and international student visas to ensure equitable access to higher education.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive student information.
5. Program Development and Assessment​​
Design and implement the school’s comprehensive college counseling program, including handbooks, timelines, and resources for students and parents.
Track and analyze student outcomes(admission rates, scholarships, etc.) to refine counseling strategies and measure program effectiveness.
Contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives promoting global citizenship, leadership, and academic excellence.

Education & Professional Background​​
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree (e.g., MA in Counseling or International Education) preferred.
Certifications such as IB Diploma Coordinator, Licensed School Counselor, or equivalent qualifications (advantageous).
Minimum 3+ years of experience in college admissions or counseling​​, preferably in an international school setting.
​​Skills & Competencies​​
Fluency in English(written and verbal); bilingual (Mandarin + English) is a plus.
Proficiency in college admission software (Naviance, ApplyWeb, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage students, parents, and university representatives effectively.
Knowledge of global education systems (Common Core, A-Levels, US/UK admissions processes).
