Job overview

The Willows is a brand new independent special school in South-Hykeham, Lincoln for young people aged 5 to 16 with Autism or similar SEN and social, emotional and mental health needs around their diagnosis. This includes high levels of anxiety, trauma and self-harm. We provide support for those where mainstream education has not been suitable and for those that may be considered as EBSA/EBSNA (emotional based school avoidance or non-attendance).
A great deal of care has been taken to ensure the school provides a nurturing, therapeutic, and stimulating environment adapted to the individual needs of our pupils so they feel safe, secure, and valued at all times. The Willows uses a trauma informed approach in all aspects of school life.

We offer a full academic pathway underpinned by vocational programmes, entry level qualifications and Functional Skills up to GCSE Level and pride ourselves on providing a bespoke, personalised curriculum for all of our learners, including a full therapy offer. As part of our wider curriculum offer, we provide opportunities for our pupils to engage in a variety of practical and off-site activities to promote independence and develop their life skills.

We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and supportive HLTA to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone to work alongside a devoted team of therapists (SALT, OT, and Psychologists), teaching staff, and SLT to support children in KS2 and KS3.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification required: HLTA qualification
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents
- Understanding and knowledge of SEND and approaches to working with SEND

Values and Attitudes:
- Passionate about supporting student learning and development
- Patient, empathetic, and understanding towards diverse student needs
- Committed to promoting inclusivity within the school community
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on new challenges

If you are enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the lives of students through your role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at The Willows School, we encourage you to apply for this position.
