About Christ College
Situated within the peaceful surroundings of the Bannau Brycheiniog, Brecon Beacons National Park, Christ College is an independent co-educational boarding and day school hosting nearly 400 pupils aged 4-18. Founded in 1541 by King Henry VIII, the school motto, “They achieve because they believe they can,” remains as relevant today as ever. The school believes that its purpose is to prepare pupils for life beyond school and their ethos incorporates so much more than just academic excellence, as important as this is.
The second curriculum, which complements the academic curriculum and strong pastoral care, includes music, creative and performing arts and an excellent sports and outdoor adventure provision making full use of their location.
Within the school’s 40 acres, facilities include a new Astroturf pitch, multi-use games area, indoor sports hall and swimming pool. Christ College has two senior boys’ boarding houses, and two senior girls’ boarding houses. The Middle Hub is a day hub for pupils in Year 9 to 11, the Senior Hub is a day hub for pupils in the Sixth Form. Each senior boarding house is run by a Houseparent; and the Hubs by a Hub Leader who oversee every aspect of a pupil’s wellbeing and academic progress.
The prep school is located in the heart of Christ College’s campus and offers a purpose-built self-contained space. Pupils aged 4-11 are taught primarily in their own classrooms in St Nicholas House, while pupils aged 11-13 have lessons throughout the school and have their own boarding facilities in Alway house for those who full, weekly or flexi board. Friday night club is popular with pupils in Year 7 and 8 who enjoy movie nights, baking and cartoon illustrating.
Christ College is a very special place and I hope what you find on this website persuades you to come and see for yourself. A visit is easily arranged and a typically warm Christ College welcome awaits.
