JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced College Counsellor to join Shenzhen American International School Bao'an Campus. This position focuses on guiding students through the entire university application journey. The College Counsellor will provide individualized guidance on course selection, university choices, essay writing, and interview preparation, while maintaining close communication with parents, faculty, and admissions representatives. The ideal candidate will also take the lead in organizing university-related events, conducting information sessions, and building a strong college counseling culture within the school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Provide individualized college counseling to students on selecting universities, crafting applications, and preparing for interviews and entrance exams.

2.Guide students in writing personal statements and application essays, ensuring they reflect each student's unique strengths and goals.

3.Coordinate the entire college application process, including managing online applications, submitting transcripts, and ensuring deadlines are met.

4.Write personalized letters of recommendation for students, collaborating with faculty when necessary to ensure comprehensive support.

5.Maintain strong relationships with university admissions officers to stay informed about trends and opportunities, supporting students’ applications with up-to-date knowledge.

6.Organize and lead workshops, university visits, and college fairs to provide students and parents with relevant college admissions information.

7.Communicate regularly with students and parents, providing updates and guidance on the application process, including potential options and decisions.

8.Track and maintain accurate records of student applications, acceptances, and outcomes, analyzing trends for continuous improvement.

9.Support faculty and staff by keeping them informed about the college admissions process and how they can contribute to student success.

10.Collaborate with the academic department to provide guidance on course selection, ensuring students’ academic choices align with their college goals.

11.Conduct presentations during school open days, providing parents with insights into the college admissions process and the services offered by the school’s college counseling program.

12.Others: undertake relative assignments as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

1.Bachelor’s degree or above in Education, English, or a related field.

2.Minimum of 6 years of experience in education, including at least 5 years of full-time experience in college counseling, preferably in an international school setting.

3.Fluent in both Chinese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

4.Strong proficiency in using college counseling platforms, such as UCAS and the Common App.

5.Empathetic, energetic, and collaborative, with strong organizational and time-management skills.

6.Overseas study or experience in an international education context is a strong plus.”
