2. Job Summary
The Chemistry Teacher is responsible for delivering high - quality chemistry instruction to students at the international school. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, conducting experiments, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive and safe learning environment. The teacher should utilize a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students and promote their understanding of chemical concepts, analytical skills, and scientific inquiry.
3. Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
​​Lesson Planning and Delivery​​:
Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans in accordance with the school's curriculum standards and international educational frameworks (e.g., IB, A - Level, or other relevant science programs).
Deliver engaging and interactive chemistry lessons to students of varying ages and proficiency levels, from middle school to high school.
Use a variety of teaching strategies, such as hands - on experiments, demonstrations, group work, and multimedia resources, to make chemical concepts accessible and interesting for students.
Incorporate real - world applications of chemistry to help students understand the relevance of the subject in everyday life and future careers.
​​Differentiated Instruction​​:
Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs and gifted students.
Provide additional support and challenges as required to ensure all students can progress in their understanding of chemistry.

Continuously assess student learning through regular assignments, quizzes, tests, laboratory reports, and projects.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to help them improve their performance.
Monitor student progress in chemistry concepts, laboratory skills, and problem - solving abilities and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
Laboratory Management
​​Experiment Planning and Conduct​​:
Plan and organize safe and engaging laboratory experiments to complement classroom instruction and enhance students' understanding of chemical concepts.
Demonstrate proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures to students and supervise them closely during experiments.
Ensure that all laboratory equipment and materials are in good working condition and properly maintained.
​​Safety and Compliance​​:
Implement and enforce strict safety protocols in the chemistry laboratory to prevent accidents and injuries.
Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure that all students and staff members are aware of emergency procedures.
Comply with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines set by local authorities and the school.
Professional Development
​​Staying Updated​​:
Stay updated on the latest research, teaching methods, and resources in chemistry education.
Participate in professional development opportunities, such as workshops, conferences, and online courses, to enhance teaching skills and subject - matter knowledge.
Keep up with the latest advancements in chemistry and incorporate them into the curriculum where appropriate.

Collaborate with colleagues within the science department and across other disciplines to develop interdisciplinary projects and share best practices.

Collaboration and Communication
​​Inter - departmental Collaboration​​:
Work closely with other science teachers to plan and implement joint projects and activities that integrate different areas of science.
Collaborate with homeroom teachers and subject - area teachers to support the overall academic and personal development of students.
​​Parent Communication​​:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about their child's academic progress in chemistry, including providing regular progress reports and holding parent - teacher conferences.
Inform parents about upcoming laboratory experiments, field trips, and other important events related to the chemistry program.

Participate in school - wide committees and initiatives, such as curriculum development committees and student support teams, to contribute to the overall mission and vision of the school.
4. Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Relevant Teaching Certification
Relevant teaching certification, such as a teaching license recognized in the host country or an international teaching qualification
Experience
At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
Skills and Competencies

In - depth knowledge of chemistry concepts, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, kinetics, thermodynamics, and organic chemistry.
Familiarity with different chemistry laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Able to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues at all levels.
Strong presentation and public speaking skills for conducting demonstrations and explaining complex concepts.

Effectively manage resources, such as laboratory equipment and chemicals.
​​Technology Proficiency​​:
Ability to use technology effectively in teaching, including chemistry simulation software, interactive whiteboards, and online learning platforms.
​​Adaptability and Cultural Sensitivity​​:
Able to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
​​Problem - solving and Critical - thinking Skills​​:
Able to develop innovative teaching methods and solutions to educational challenges in chemistry.
