A complete lesson on how a bill becomes law. Covers the process from bill to royal assent. Covers the different types of bills, the debate and scrutiny process this must go through and different pieces of legislation that have been introduced, such as Salisbury Conventions and English Votes for English Laws. All info needed is on slides and there are videos to break it up. Can be used as part of my series of lessons for Edexcel paper 2 topic 2 Parliament.

Requires students to do some independent research, but what they should have found is written into the slides. Provides opportunity for lots of disussion on how far these reforms have been a success. Also includes a homework written in to research 2010 - 2022 Constitutional reform.

Included a table and info sheets to fill, as well as lots of real political examples and links to useful articles on the slides. Great for discussion on how well the government is currently holding up the Rule of Law. Homework written into the lesson. Works well as part of my scheme of lessons on Constitution topic.

A lesson considering why legislation alone did not make women equal. It looks at the issues facing women in the 20th century onwards and covers case study movements to improve attitudes towards women, to fix some of the problems and to get closet to equality.

A lesson covering the different attitudes to achieving Civil Rights in America. This includes the growth, popularity and tactics of Martin Luther King Jr, as well as the more radical Black Power movement.

A lesson on the Greensboro sit-in, covering the causes, the events and the consequences of the protest. As well as putting its significance into the wider context of the Civil Rights movement.

A resource for International Women’s Day that is designed as an assembly but can be used as a form time activity too. It aims to unpick what we mean by feminism and address some of the misconceptions. It also includes a story of Kathleen Roberts a ‘Woman of Steel’ from WWII. Later slides cover problems facing women and what we can do to help.

An assembly I put together on the importance of resilience. It is based around the film ‘The Swimmers’ on Netflix, which follows two sisters - Yusra and Sara - who fled Syria and still manged to compete at the Rio Olympics. I linked this to my schools values and the importance of never giving up! Helps if you have watched the film but you can easily find the story online too.

A lesson on how significant Martin Luther King was to the Civil Rights movement. This ties together all parts of the movement for Civil Rights to draw a conclusion on whether it was MLK who deserves the credit or something/someone else. This could be adapted to be an end of unit assessment using historical sources.

Resources for an open day or WWII activity. Includes a powerpoint (Which I play on loop) and a code, plus premade codes to crack. Went down very well at our open day the last 2 years!

Looking at how Stresemann tackled hyperinflation, the Treaty of Versailles and other economic problems in 1923-1929 in Germany. Can be used as part of my series of lessons on the Stresemann/Golden Years, for History GCSE (Edexcel)

Edexcel GCSE history summary lesson on the Stresemann years. Includes a big overview colour code of the 1920’s under Streseman. This includes different interpretations of what people thought of the changes under Stresemann and how they experienced the impact of these changes. Also includes a practise 12 marker question with suggestions for factors. Can be used as a consolidation of my lessons on the Stresemann years 1923-1929.

Covers the discovery of DNA, the imapct on modern medicine as well as the increasing importance of lifestyle factors as a cause of disease.
