I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

This 50 word puzzle with 8 images to identify is great to use at the end of the school year, for summer school programs, or for a back to school review. The materials work well for sub plans, as well. After students complete the puzzle, partners can quiz each other using the student vocabulary handouts. The puzzle contains a wide variety of vocabulary for all things summer, including weather expressions, beach nouns, sports, infinitive verbs, summer clothing, and even summer insects! Sample words are: luciérnaga, sandía, nadar, traje de baño, lluvia, descalzo, hace sol, feria, gafas del sol, vacaciones, helado, and piscina. Students are instructed to: 1. Write Spanish words under each picture. 2. Write the Spanish meaning next to each clue. 3. Complete the puzzle with Spanish words. The download includes: 1. This PowerPoint Jeopardy game contains 25 different regular and irregular verbs for students to conjugate in the present tense. The 5 categories are the subject pronouns yo, tú, él/ella/Ud., nosotros, and ellos/ellas/Uds. Students click a number under one of the categories and an infinitive will appear. The next click displays the correct conjugation, the point value, and a house that can be clicked to return to the game board. The previously clicked questions are highlighted to show students that they have already been used. There are 2 randomly placed "Sorpresa" slides that double the points of the next conjugation, if answered correctly. This is a no prep activity that can be modified to suit your purposes in your classroom. Also included are 2 slides that can be printed and given to students to complete while they are in the audience. Each contains a shell of the game board with the subject pronoun categories at the top and the point value in each cell. As participants choose their questions, the students in the audience can write the infinitive and the corresponding conjugation. The verbs contained are a mix of regular and irregular verbs, including "go" verbs and stem change verbs. Examples are ir, ser, poner, conocer, pedir, servir, dormir, and jugar. This is great review activity for back to school, the end of the year, or anytime in between! 60 pages

Students research several areas associated with holidays and festivals celebrated in Spanish speaking countries. The areas are date/s, food, events, music and dance, location, religious celebrations, countries that celebrate the holiday, and history of the holiday. Included: 1. 15 different templates, each with a different holiday and the categories listed previously. This is a fun investigative activity for students that can be completed in Spanish or English. 2. One template without the name of a holiday or festival to give you the option of adding more of either. 3. Page that includes several suggestions for using the materials such as a Foreign Language Week activity, Spanish Club activity, or just a homework assignment, to name a few. This has been used very successfully as a substitute teacher lesson in the computer lab. It's a great research activity for use with iPads or other tablets. The holidays can be researched one at a time over a period of several weeks which makes this a download of 15 assignments, or you can divide and distribute all 15 different templates and have different students working on different countries at the same time. 19 pages

One booklet contains text and images, the other contains text only so students can sketch and create their own versions of the booklets. Each booklet contains 8 pages: the title page with El Verano with 7 additional pages containing Voy a + a summer activity. Activities included are play with friends, swim, go to the park, read, play baseball, play video games, and play soccer. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first read and cut out the booklet that contains text and illustrations. They then sketch and create their own version using the text only template. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text.
