This is a adaptation of a brilliant idea shared by @MissLlewis and @HuntingEnglishblog.
A self-reflexion activity to foster students’ independence and improve their revision techniques.
This resource provides a ready-to-use, teacher-friendly marking sheet tailored specifically for the 90-word writing questions in the new 2024 AQA GCSE MFL specification (Modern Foreign Languages). It covers both Question 5 on the Foundation Tier and Question 2 on the Higher Tier, aligning closely with the updated assessment criteria.
Ideal for use in class, during mock exams, or for targeted writing practice and feedback, this marking sheet helps streamline assessment and support consistent, criterion-based marking.
Features include:
Clear breakdown of AO (Assessment Objective) criteria
Space for teacher comments and student targets
Designed to encourage formative feedback and student reflection
Suitable for French, German, and Spanish GCSE. Editable and adaptable to suit individual classroom needs.
Using structure strips have been incredibly useful and rewarding for my pupils.
I have been using them to help students to form better quality paragraphs.
This is a handout to provide feedback to your Year 9 and GCSE students on their written work in Spanish.
After marking a piece of writing, I add one of this handouts to my students' work, highlighting an area or two for them to improve. Alternatively, I cut a QR Code and stick it on their work along with my feedback.
Students have to use a QR code reader on their iPads or smartphones to access the content in the QR Codes which will display some grammar information.
In this way feedback is a bit more personalised and interactive.
Hope you can give it a go!

These resources were created to support students during the school closures in 2020. The remote learning in our school has been amazing and our students can continue their learning from home. The most difficult part is to allow everyone to practise the four skills. Some students are more confident than others as we can observe in the classroom when we teach them face-to-face. Teaching the same students remotely makes this difference more noticeable. It will depend on the teachers knowledge of the class and experience to reach out in order to differenciate and make opporunities for everyone to make progress.
These are some of the activities for my Y10s AQA Spanish syllabus Unit 4 Customs and festivals. A huge acknowledgment to all the amazing, innovative teachers who have shared ideas and resources on the different teachers forums as you will find a lot of their work and ideas in the resources that I’m saring with you now.

Hope you find this resource useful in the run-up to the oral exams. Have your students working in pairs, taking turns to roll the dice to answer the question on the sheet. It doesn’t matter if they roll the same number twice, the more practice they get, the better. You can limit the practice time per area to 5-6 minutes.
You can edit it and adapt it to your own needs.
Are you looking for ways to spice up your Spanish lessons and make vocabulary learning more interactive for your high school students? Look no further! Here are some exciting 5-minute activities that incorporate the use of bilingual dictionaries.
These activities are not only fun and engaging but also help students become proficient in using bilingual dictionaries while reinforcing their Spanish vocabulary. Give them a try in your classroom and watch your students’ enthusiasm for learning soar!
This resource is an adaptation of @teachgeogblog revision clock. In the run-up to the speaking exams I thought of doing a targeted revision for my Y11s on those role play questions they struggle the most.
Students set a timer to 5 minutes (or it can be shorten) in order to answer each section, when the time is up, they move to the next one.
You can ask them work in pairs or individually, with an open book and notes or without. I’ve printed the handouts in A3 paper
I may be old fashion, but I believe that dictionary skills are so important when learning a foreign language. These activities are the second part of the dictionary ideas.
These are not only fun and engaging but also help students become proficient in using bilingual dictionaries while reinforcing their Spanish vocabulary. Give them a try in your classroom and watch your students’ enthusiasm for learning soar!
Feel free to share these ideas with your fellow educators and let’s make language learning an adventure together!
