This resource includes an activity that you can display on the screen that children can copy and complete, or you can print it and students can complete it.

This lesson is to help students understand the value of each digit, its meaning and its place value, and this is a more advanced one including decimal place value. What you receive A PowerPoint lesson including what place value is, and place value grids, examples and questions to complete at the end to show understanding (questions are what is the value of __ is a number e.g. 360 what is the value of the 6 = 60.) Answers are included for the questions. A PDF with the definition (called concept corner) to be glued into students books etc, and an example to glue in their book as well. This will give them a clear meaning to look back on if they are stuck in future or doing the questions.

It is a simpler tens and units adding and subtracting activity, and does not include ‘carrying’ or ‘borrowing’, which is ideal for early stages of teaching this topic.
