Hi welcome to my shop!
I'm currently Head of Humanities, but I've also been head of department at a number of other schools, not to mention head of year. So I have a lot of high quality resources to share.
I take real pride in trying to ensure my resources are well presented, clear, easy to use and of course challenging and engaging for the students. They have taken me a lot of time to make, but hopefully they will save you a lot of time.
If you have any feedback then please review me!

Here is a really interesting assembly for 2018 about Halloween.
It cover history, traditions, customs, facts, and how to stay safe.
If is an interactive assembly and asks the audience to participate (in a Q & A and a True or False Quiz).
It also has an amusing section looking at celebrity fancy dress costumes and Jimmy Kimmelâs âWe ate all your candyâ video.
A fun and interesting assembly.
Highly recommended for assembly or form time.
This is a useful look at an example of colonialism.
It investigates why Britain would want to colonise India and what the impact was on both countries as a result of this imperialism.
The students need to become âexpertsâ in one areas of this debate, and then teach the other students what they have learned.
A good stand alone lesson, or it can be used as part of a SoW on either colonialism or the Industrial Revolution.
It is also important to help the students to consider the long term ramifications of colonialism on Indiad development and why it still matters today.
This is a fantastic assembly that I used for an interview about refugee week.
It has been updated for 2023.
It covers the 5 Wâs of refugee week, including:
-Definitions of refugee, immigrant, asylum seeker
-The History of refugees
-The reasons why there are so many refugees today
-What the future may look like
-What we can do to help
It also has a fantastic poem that is aimed at making the students think about this as an issue.
A well planned, interesting and important assembly.
This lesson looks at how enslaved people used music to challenge the authority of their masters and send coded messages to others to help them to escape.
The students will learn some of the code words and what they represented.
It uses some of the most famous songs (such as âSwing low sweet chariotâ and âAmazing Graceâ) and dissects the lyrics to understand the true meaning of the songs.
It helps the students to appreciate how difficult it was to be enslaved and how the seemingly small acts of resistance could make a huge difference.
An interesting and important lesson that deals with a sensitive topic carefully.
The lesson ends with the students having the opportunity to write their own song of resistance.
This is a fun revision activity designed for students studying GCSE/A Level Religious Studies. It can also be used for KS3 as part of a lesson.
This is based on the popular New York Times Game Connections this fun revision game is designed to help the students to prepare for the exams or end of year assessments.
The topics I have included are:
-Christian Beliefs
-Marriage and Family
-Living the Christian Life
-Matters of Life and Death
The game is simple; Students need to group together four words and figure out what the connection is between them. But many of the words can fit into multiple groups so they need to be careful.
**I have included an answer sheet to make it easier for the teacher!
**
As a bonus I have also included a blank template so students/teachers can make their own connections. This could also be used for other topics/subjects. It can also be used for KS3/4 or 5.

UPDATED - 12th March 2020
This fantastic Assembly is designed to inform students about the ongoing Coronavirus crisis that is spreading across the world.
It covers:
-Myths and Facts
-Causes of the virus
-The 5 wâs about the virus
-Effects
-Symptoms
-History of pandemics
-Advice to keep safe
An excellent and well resourced assembly that explains the issue clearly.
NOTE - This was created at the beginning of March 2020, so you may need to update the figures on a couple of the slides to give the most up to date information.
This is an outstanding assembly about the future and the choices students will have to make to get ahead of the competition.
This is a perfect assembly for student building up to their exams. The assembly gets them to think like employers and ask them who they would choose when faced with three applicants and ten different areas.
For each area (such as punctuality, references, experience, appearance etc.) the students are presented with three options and they have to pick the one they think would make the best impression.
The point being these are all situations they may well be faced with in the future and they need to make the right choices to get ahead.
This assembly also includes a video (which is optional based on how much time you have) as well as a powerful message.
This assembly was delivered to year 11 and year 13 but would also be suitable for KS3.
The assmbly should take about 15 to 20 min to deliver (less if you donât show the video clip).
A fascinating lesson that looks at the four main theories of why we use punishment.
-Deterrent
-Retribution
-Protection
-Reform
It looks at case studies as to how effective the student think these theories are, and it prepares the students for an essay quesion (which can be peer assessed at the end of the lesson)
A highly useful introduction to the idea of law and order in society.
Originally created for a RS lesson, but can be used forHistory, PSHE or Citizenship.
I have also included an interesting article from the Guardian that disusses why prison doesnât work. It can be used as lesson prep, or as an extension for brighter/older pupils.

This is a fantastic lesson designed to investigate the various theories about why Jack the Ripper stopped killing and what happened to him.
In this lesson the students will be asked why they think Jack the Ripperâs reign of terror came to an end in December 1888, by looking at six different theories.
The will use historical skills (evaluation, interpretation, critical thinking, persuasive writing etc.) to explain what they think happened to Jack.
It can be delivered as part of the Jack the Ripper Scheme of work or as a stand alone lesson.
