Would last two or three lessons: This lesson explores the poem Nothing's Changed by looking at questions surrounding different cultures. A task that helps to show your student's understanding as the topic progresses on poetic techniques. Context of the poem and the poet. An analysis of language and structure within the poem and two model answers that students can mark and feedback on which one is better and why. The final question is "How does the poet present his life in Nothing's changed?

A lesson that explores Don John's evil plan in Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing. Aimed at a higher ability class but can be easily adapted. The lesson includes: -The extract for students to annotate - A task to support first impressions of the character -A YouTube link with comprehension questions - A grid full of structural techniques - A teacher annotation of a section of the extract -A model answer - A learning question GCSE styled "How is structure used to present the character?"

Looking at the AQA Language paper 2- Greenwich Fair and Glastonbury extract. This lesson walks students through the AQA model examples and markschemes. All abilities catered for- a great preparation lesson when focusing on the Q2 Summary.

This lesson looks at the use of language and structure throughout an extract from the book 'Wonder' by R.J Palacio. Students are given a list of things to look for in the extract, a group task which allows students to work together to create a grid of techniques and effects. Complete with a model answer to be discussed as a class and the tools/support to enable students to answer the GCSE styled question "How has Palacio used language and structure to engage the reader?"

Two full lessons that outline how Golding uses setting in the opening chapters and how the 'conch' is used as a symbol on the island. The first lesson closely analyses language and provides a broken down model answer to discuss and mark as a class. This also includes questions for pupils to consider when peer assessing their partner's response to the question. The second lesson looks at the technique of symbolism and refers to British Values and Democracy.

A lesson aimed at working in groups to analyse 4 different speeches and create a second group to teach each other about their speech. Lesson includes: -4 speeches from movies: Armageddon, Independence day, Braveheart and Coach Carter. -YouTube links to all speeches to spark discussion with the class. -Guided steps to help students annotate their speeches -Independent structure used to help students answer the question "How does the language used in the speech help motivate the audience?"

The duo of lessons includes a range of Language Paper 1 materials ready to walk Year 11 students through an examination with as much or little guidance as you feel. Pace of delivery would cover at least 8 lessons for both exams to be practiced. Model answers included.

A lesson that can be taught over two hours that closely analyses the poem Farmer's Bride by Charlotte Mew. This lesson was originally created for a low ability year 10 class aiming for D/C grades but can be easily adapted with challenge tasks adding on. Complete with re-caps of key concepts in poetry such as; themes, language techniques, context of the poem and the poem itself. Students are encouraged to gain their own opinions on certain aspects of the poem, arranged marriages, male dominance etc...

A lesson aimed at a mixed ability group that looks at the analysis of Eden Rock by Charles Causley. As part of the AQA Relationships cluster it focuses on AO1, AO2, AO3 and AO4.

This lesson is adaptable for those analysing Blessing with a KS3 group. This group was a mixed ability year 8 class and they were studying poems from different cultures. The lesson includes pre-learning tasks such as; a reading of the poem, analysis of the poem and steps to guide them in answering a learning question similar to a GCSE question.

This lesson was taught to a year 8 mixed ability class whilst studying the poems from other cultures. This lesson is adaptable to use and provides pupils with a model example, pre-teaching tasks and the opportunity to answer a GCSE styled question through differentiated support.

This lesson offers an adaptable PowerPoint for analysing the poem ‘Eden Rock’ from the GCSE love and relationships anthology. It provides an analysis of key points from the poem, contextual information and a model answer in preparation of the students writing their own analysis in response to a GCSE question.

A lesson that covers the general layout of the exam and what the mark scheme specifically asks for each question. I extended this into two lessons- first giving the students the question and allowing them to answer before looking at what they could have written according to the mark scheme.

A two hour lesson that looks at the skills required to write answers to questions 1-4 on the AQA Language paper 2. Included is a PDF of a past-paper as well as a powerpoint taking students through this and giving tips for this exam.

A lesson that looks at the question 5 section B of language paper 1. Tips and strategies for answering the question are provided, how to plan their answer as well as looking at how they can include the highest ‘compelling’ boundary with time to consider ideas. This lesson was spread into two hours- moving through the powerpoint, allowing students to plan their answer and then write for 45-minutes.

A lesson that explores the use of first person which includes the use of first person with a task that looks at the use of first person in the wonder trailer- youtube link attached. It also allows students to use first person themselves by comparing their first day to the main characters and a supported answer to the question "How does the writer use first person perspective to allow the reader to imagine August's first day?"

The lesson focuses on reading the story "Answer" which is an outdated Science fiction story that describes the creation of the internet- before it was even created. Explanation of the technique - Allegorical reference and full story included. Students are then supported through discussion of typical Sci-Fi conventions whether or not this story is an effective Science Fiction story.

2 introductory lessons for R.J Palacio's Wonder. Studied with a year 7 class which could be used for high ability year 6 students or low ability year 8 students. The lessons include information about the author, a task based around emotive impact of the story, analysis of the blurb, comprehension questions, tasks to lead to students learning their first impressions of the main character and a structured support to help students write their own response to the question "What are your first impressions of August's life?" -Images of the book cover to use as a mind-map for students included.
