Resource that was used with a IGCSE1 class studying the Earthquakes and Volcanoes topic. It easily filled a 90 minute lesson. The content of the PPT could be used to generate more tasksheet, discussion activities. PPT breakdown. 32 slides cover the following content: lesson objectives, key words and syllabus links. the 3 P’s of earthquake preparadness - predict, plan and prepare Tips to follow in an earthquake event Engineering techniques that can be used to make buildings more earthquake resistant, includeing padded foundations, dampeners, shock absorbers, cross bracing, deep foundations. Each method has a small animation to aid in the explantion The final slide has two tasks for the students to complete - a sketch task of an earthquake resistance builidng, and a written explanation of the 3 P’s.

Each stage includes diagrams, photographs and descriptions of the structure and vegetation found in each stage. PPT includes embedded videos on the stages of sand dune succession. PPT also includes information on why dunes are important and the conditions needed for them to form. I used this in a 60 minute A2 level class studying the Coastal Environments advanced core topic.
