The quiz features 15 questions (with answer pages), which showcases a number of up-to-date kids and teen books that have been published this past year. There are also some classic books included. The set of questions are fully diverse, inclusive and differentiated. This resource is intended to be used during tutor time - works best for vertical tutoring - in the run up to Christmas as a light, competitative activity to get students talking about books! Go through this 51 powerpoint slide resource with your students, which will take around 20 minutes if you crack on! You could even use it as a competition between school houses to see which is the best and arrange prizes for the winners, it’s totally up to you! There is a visual collection of fantastic books, published from the last twenty years, that all have a high AR book level. Each book has it’s AR level noted clearly. With a boxing theme, this resource is intended to inspire young readers to get competitive and try to read the ‘tough’ books that are listed. Then this fab new resource could be exactly what you need! This is a colourful and visual A3 poster, which explains what verse novels are and gives some suggestions of what books readers can start with. All books are young adult, appropriate for students ages 14+ years, due to some of the content and themes of the books. But all are well-written, quality and diverse texts that I would recommend readily. In addition, if they are on accelerated reader, then I have made a note of this alongside the book. Verse novels have become very popular with publishers and readers, particularly over the past five years. They offer a new, original way of reading verse and poetry, so can be a great way to encourage reading for pleasure. If you are an English teacher, teaching GCSE English Literature, then this is the perfect resource for you! This fiction recommended visual book list poster is linked to the AQA GCSE set texts - the four most commonly used by teachers. These are; Macbeth A Christmas Carol Power and Conflict (Poetry Cluster) An Inspector Calls The featured books contain similar plots, characters or themes to the above set texts, or are even outrightly based on the books. The books are a diverse and inclusive collection that are appropriate for Year 10 and 11 readers. The poster is intended to concrete students’ knowledge and understanding of the set texts and are ideal for More Able students wanting to read around their subject. There are, however, at least one more accessible text for SEN students or lower ability readers for each set text. This is a visual and themed book list and recommendations A3 poster. It is appropriate for all primary school aged children, and showcases a range of picture books, graphic novels and standard chapter books. They are all LGBTQA+ inclusive and feature characters with this representation, e.g. main characters feeling a little different and celebrating individuality, same sex parents, gender non-conforming children, etc. All of these books are well written, modern, positive and diverse. This poster can be put up not just for Pride Month, but at any time of the year around your school. If your class is about to move up to secondary school then check out this perfect resource for you! This A3 poster features several fiction books, with stories that specifically focus on characters that are about to begin secondary school. Many illustrate some of the challenges they face, as well as some of the positives of such a big change. It is hoped that students who are about to go to big school will be able to read about these experiences, which may help to alleviate any real anxieties and issues they have in real life. All books are ideal for Year 6 students to read, and are a diverse and inclusive collection. Feel free to pop up in your classroom, or re-size and print out as leaflets to give to students.
