With over 15 years' experience in science education, my focus is on creating high-quality, visually engaging resources that support both teaching and learning. Research consistently shows that well-organised, clearly presented materials can significantly improve student outcomes by reducing cognitive load and enhancing retention. I aim to provide resources which are not only effective, but ready to use.

Revision checklist for AQA A-level Biology. Designed for use with the following revision method:
Step 1: make revision resources** for a topic e.g. flashcards, mindmaps.
Step 2: use these revision resources to actively revise the topic.
Step 3: complete topic-specific exam questions.
Step 4: mark questions and annotate revision notes with any missed information.
Step 5: repeat until you are achieving a mark that is comparable to your desired final grade.
Step 6: move onto the next topic!
** If you don’t have time to make your own revision resources, flashcards & revision questions & answers are available to purchase in my Tes shop! The flashcards and revision questions & answers contain very similar information, so there is no need to use both - pick whichever format you prefer.

How to construct a ray diagram for a concave lens.
Also, completing ray diagrams to show how the paths of rays change as they pass through a concave / convex lens.
Students must also describe each image formed (real/virtual; upright/inverted; enlarged/diminished/same size) and give an example of where this type of lens is used.

Boost your Year 13 A-Level Biology revision with these engaging lesson starters. These questions cover key topics from sections 1-4 of the specification, ensuring thorough preparation for exams. From core concepts in biology to practical skills and mathematical applications, these starters help reinforce learning and encourage active participation. Whether used as warm-ups, revision checks, or group activities, they are designed to challenge students and build confidence ahead of their A-level exams. Get your students exam-ready with this essential resource!
Download includes 5 lesson starters with full answers. Time taken to complete each one depends on the starter, as a variety of different activities are included.
For written questions, an indication of the number of marks the question would be worth in an exam is given. This can be variable though. The numbers in the resource are given to give students a guide as to how many marking points they should be trying to cover in their answer.
I use these from the beginning of Year 13 to encourage spaced repetition of AS topics.
PLEASE NOTE that the download is a PDF file not a powerpoint - unfortunately the formatting goes awry when downloaded as a presentation, so a PDF format was chosen to avoid any issues.
COMING SOON - part 2 which will include content from all 8 sections.
Full resource including lesson starters 1-20 available separately (please note that the first 5 starters in the paid for resource are the same as in the free sample).

Only abbreviations written on the specification should be used by students in the exam. This resource lists all the abbreviations included on the specification, along with some common abbreviations used by students which SHOULD NOT be used in exams.
The information in this resource is correct to the best of my knowledge, but please email teachsecondaryscience@gmail.com if you spot a mistake or would like any other ‘DO NOT USE’ abbreviations adding to the list.
Revision questions and answers covering topic 1 of the AQA GCSE Biology Specification (suitable for both Triple and Combined Science students).
Questions & answers covering the entire AQA GCSE Biology Specification are available in my TES shop.
Concise
Includes diagrams
Mapped to the specification
Model answers based on extensive past paper analysis
Clear question & answer format to encourage active learning
Includes 6-mark exam-style required practical method questions, where relevant
Columns to mark each individual question as red, amber or green based on current understanding.
Triple only / higher tier only content is NOT on a grey background to distinguish it, all questions and answers are on a white background to allow students to highlight/add colour should they wish.
Designed to promote spaced repetition of topics throughout the GCSE teaching. Rather than revision notes, which encourage passive learning (because most students just read through them or copy them out), these questions and answers are designed to encourage active learning.
Triple and Higher Tier only content is marked, so these questions are suitable for all candidates.
If you find this resource helpful, I would very much appreciate a review. Thank you!

Printable revision timetables ideal for GCSE and A-level students.
Download contains 4 different colour options, plus one black and white version.
For each different colour, there is an option with time slots already completed & a blank version for students to choose their own timings for each session.
The two hour slots at the beginning & end of each day are for completing past papers - for any other revision, make sure you have a break after 1 hour of revising. I personally don’t suggest students timetable revision for early in the morning and late in the evening on the same day - choosing one or the other is usually best, depending on when students work best.
