♦ Students may start with any card to begin with.
♦ They write the ratio to solve on their recording sheets and look for the answer (top) on another card.
♦ The name of the picture of the card where the answer is found is written below the answer on the Recording Sheet.
♦ Students then solve the next question at the bottom of the card where they found the answer and look for the answer again on another card.
♦All questions are solved this way till the question of the last card loops back to the answer of the first card.
**Clear visual instructions further provided in file. The Scavenger Hunt is an effective way for students to check their working and arrive at the right answer in order to solve the next problem.
I am confident your students will have sound mathematical knowledge and understanding of simplifying ratios that are fractions after completion of this unit. All the best for the academic year!

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY: CHRISTMAS MULTIPLICATION SCOOT
Review multiplication facts and build number sense with these 32 Christmas themed multiplication scoot cards on the 1-12 times tables. These cards feature colourful Christmas themed illustrations to make abstract content more concrete and meaningful. There are two styles to the Recording Sheets, one scaffolded to elicit the desired response, and the other includes blank answer sections.
The multiplication skills for the 1-12 times tables reinforced in this pack are:
✓ writing a multiplication fact for a number sentence
✓ writing a multiplication fact for a given array, tens frame
✓ writing a multiplication fact for a given group
✓ writing the missing factor
✓ writing the product of two given numbers
✓ writing a multiplication fact for a given illustration
✓ filling in the blanks for a given times table
✓ problem solving using illustrations
SUGGESTED USE
→ Small group rotations (cards may be rotated among small groups of students)
→ Math Centers
→ Game of Scoot:
There are many variations to the game. Here’s one:
Place cards around the classroom. When the teacher calls ‘scoot’ students read a card and write their response against the corresponding card number in the provided Recording Sheet. Students can only move when ‘scoot’ is called out. If the student does not finish solving the problem on a card, he/she can continue to spend more time on it, but must wait till the teacher calls out ‘scoot’. You can also have this as a silent activity where students move around quietly solving all the task cards without the teacher calling out ‘scoot’.
***
PREPARATION
♦ Stack and perfectly align sheets. Cut along task card borders carefully. Work with 3 sheets at a time for better manipulation.
♦ Laminate cards for durability. There are four cards on a single sheet.
♦ Store cards in zip-loc bags (small plastic pouches).
♦ Place cards and copies of Recording Sheets (2 options) in file folder.
♦ Glue file folder cover (2 options included) on folder.
***
SUGGESTED USE
♦ You may break up the activity and have students do cards 1-16 during one session and 17-32 the next. There are 2 recording sheets for this purpose.
♦ I generally have cards 1-16 placed on one section of the classroom walls, and cards 17-32 on the opposite side. This is to cater to all; students who would perhaps need more time and the early finishers.
**There is so much fun and excitement as kids walk around the classroom solving the cards. They seem to be racing to finish them all :)

This leaves a student with just 48 seconds to complete each question (time limit divided by the number of questions).
â–º This Practice Paper features 60 questions that target a variety of questioning types prevalent in Naplan past papers. Other than targeting spelling skills at the requisite level, the paper focuses on punctuation, parts of speech, sentence structure and clause structure.
â–º The questioning strategy of each of the 60 questions target a range of spelling, grammar and punctuation skills. The questions have been formulated after extensive study of recent years examination papers and adopt the style and format of the same.
►► ITEMS INCLUDED:
✓ Cover Sheet x 2 options (if compiling all sheets into a booklet)
✓ 60 Questions (multiple choice, check-box, short response) on spelling, grammar and punctuation
✓ Answer Key
►► SUGGESTED USE:
✓ You may release the sheets gradually to students 2-3 at a time, or have them attempt the entire paper in one sitting. Be sure to provide additional time as there are 60 questions. Alternatively, print pages 5-12 (51 questions) to be completed within a time frame of approximately 40 minutes.
✓ It is best practice to familiarise yourself with the type of questions so you can provide a brief explanation of skills tested prior to students attempting the paper.

There are two sets of Recording Sheets (Numbers 1-16 and 17-32). Students have a choice between the scaffolded (to elicit the desired response) and blank sectioned. An answer key is provided to have students independently check their answers. Prior to having students work on the cards, work-out similar sample questions on the board to familiarise students with the question types.
SUGGESTED USE
→ Small group rotations (cards may be rotated among small groups of students)
→ Math Centres
→ Early Finishers
→ Morning Work
→ Warm-up/Tuning in Activity
⇒ Game of Scoot: Instructions in file. At the culmination of the activity, project the cards on the interactive whiteboard and discuss the answers with the class. Alternatively, place answer sheets at a Centre for students to self-check.
