The SEND Support Advisory Teacher

I am an advisory teacher working for a local authority. I specialise in supporting staff working with neurodivergent children with complex support needs. I have developed a sensory exploration curriculum pathway for learners with complex needs, that are currently unable to attend to Attention Autism activities and then additional planning units for learners that have developed joint attention.

These sessions allow learners to explore independently and to direct their own activities. Adults can support this by taking a low arousal approach, observing and facilitating rather than directing.
