There are 5 food and 5 fitness activity challenges. 1 card to be sent home each week. Children/ parents have a recording sheet to tick off which challenges they complete. We ask for photos to be shared with us via seesaw - you could do what suits your school! We collate these into a floor book as part of our personal development/ mental wellbeing evidence. If children complete 5 or more of the 10 challenges before the deadline they are entered into a prize draw to win a little hamper - your prize would be up to you!
Resources include the 5 challenge cards and the recording sheet. These are PDF docs and are not editable.
Spelling Challenge Cards Level 6-9
Level 6 and Level 7 = Y3/4 statutory words
Level 8 and Level 9 = Y5/6 statutory words
These follow on from the KS1 spelling bundle also in my TES store.
Each challenge card is split into bronze, silver and gold (these aren’t progressive, they just offer milestones) Children take the sheets home and practice the words. When they are confident they can spell them, the parents cut the relevant slip off the bottom and send it in to say they are ready to be tested! Teachers can test all/ a random sample of the words to validate.
Each level has bronze, silver and gold certs. Each time a child gets a cert, we offer 3 raffle tickets (in the bundle) and 2 house points (you can add your own rewards!). We will run a termly raffle to win £20!
cards are subtly numbered 1-6, each aligned to the NC expectations. Designed so teachers can ask children to focus on 1-2 sections of the guide or work through it all… dependent on the pupil/s, the time allocated to the task and the teacher focus.
Print and laminate for a handy classroom resource.
A scaffold to support children looking at model texts and unpicking their key elements e.g. purpose, vocab/ phrases, writer techniques e.g. rhetorical questions, short sentences, personification, modal verbs, etc. This helps children build up an understanding of the intended impact of the text and how the writer creates this. From here children understand the ‘steps to success’ or ‘writer’s toolkit’ or whatever you may call it!
Number bonds to 10, 20, 50 and 100
x2, x5 and x 10
x3, x4 and x8
x6, x9, x11
x7 and x12
All designed to support and motivate learning at home!
Children bring in the slip at the bottom of the card when their adult/s feel they have secured the skill. Staff will check in school and children are rewarded e.g. house points, raffle tickets, etc.
The cards feature emotion trees showcasing groups of words for each emotion.
EYFS cards - add your own character or image on top of the coloured auras - we use the colour monster images
KS1 and KS2 - you can just use the cards with the emotion sign posts or you can add your own characters or images at the bottom of each tree. We used the characters from Inside Out.
See instagram page for preview of how we have added images to the cards. If you would like a copy of the characters I have used drop me your email address and I can send you them.
Simply print pages 2 and 3 back to back and create as many pages as you want to go inside the front cover and create a booklet. Children can add key geography vocab as it is taught and carry this up through school with them as a handy reference booklet.
The page page offers some quick paired games for when there is a spare few minutes to recap and revise!
As shown on my instagram account @journal_of_a_headteacher we use this template to record our weekly Picture News discussions and add them to a floor book. Simply summarise the week’s story and snip the images from the weekly powerpoint to add to the template - see example on page 2. Print and add notes/ post it notes to during your class discussion.
Text editable. Images can be snipped from the weekly powerpoints and pasted in.
