Practise basic adding and subtracting and number bonds etc. Providing engaging independent work for Year 1 and Year 2 Maths, these 72 printable trail add and subtract cards can be used for early finishers, lesson starters, warm ups and revision, and will also suit some Year 3 and older KS2 students requiring consolidation, including those with ASN / SEN. Regular practice using these resources will help to build speed and accuracy and are an engaging change from more worksheets. ALL ANSWERS INCLUDED. This BUNDLE includes two 36-card sets of addition and subtraction mental maths self-check write and wipe trail cards to be laminated for pupils to complete with wipeable pens. 36 cards for each of: * Adding and subtracting within 20 * Adding and subtracting within 50 Both packs are available to purchase separately or as part of this larger Addition and Subtraction KS1 Cards BUNDLE (144 cards). The other 2 packs in the bigger bundle are: Adding and Subtracting Multiples of 10 Adding and Subtracting 9 and 11 They can be used by individuals or you could have pairs or small groups racing against each other to complete trails accurately. Very flexible and great to have in the classroom all year round to use as a meaningful last-minute filler! Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong. Answer cards can be used by the pupils themselves or by the teacher to see at a glance where pupils have gone wrong. Print and laminate if required. Click here for a free sample of my Write and Wipe Add and Subtract Trails. I hope your pupils enjoy using these cards. Addition & Subtraction Number Bonds Practice Activities

Boost basic maths skills with these new maths revision puzzles activities if number bonds to 20, adding and subtracting within 20 and basic doubles and near doubles are still tricky in Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 2, 3 or 4). These 15 puzzles worksheets are engaging activities for independent work, homework, starter tasks and early finisher challenges to improve basic skills, fact families and inverse operations. They are no prep printables, designed as fun alternatives to standard worksheets to provide variety and extra practice of addition and subtraction facts beyond Year 1, including some special educational needs contexts (SEN). Students must have basic spelling ability to uncover the 4 or 5-letter hidden words that feature in these calculation puzzles (although clues can be given, of course!). Please check the preview to see if they will meet your needs. Answers included. This 31-page PDF file includes these 15 puzzles (and full answer keys): Addition up to 20 Subtraction up to 20 Doubles (mainly to 20 but including easier larger numbers to 50) Near Doubles (mostly single digit numbers) Number Bonds to 10 (Addition and Subtraction Facts included in all following puzzles) Number Bonds to 11 to 12 to 13 to 14 to 15 to 16 to 17 to 18 to 19 to 20   Students study completed calculations, hunting for errors. Normally they often forget or avoid checking their work so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles! Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work. Each puzzle contains 21 completed calculations, with 4 or 5 deliberate errors. There is a letter printed in each box, below the calculation. Students circle all the boxes containing calculation mistakes. When they have finished, they put all the letters together from the circled boxes and rearrange the letters to spell the name of an animal. If students have assembled the correct letters but find the rearranging very challenging, you can have them work in pairs or give clues, such as the first letter of the word or a fact about the animal. The animal printed on each puzzle is for illustration purposes and not related to the answer. Answer Keys are located after each puzzle. Print for students to self-check if required. You might want to display them instead. A Teacher Notes page is included. TIP: To save printing and to use again, laminate them and have students complete them with dry-wipe pens! Alternatively, put the sheets in a dry-erase sleeve.   YOU MIGHT LIKE… Add and Subtract within 20 Write and Wipe Cards   SAVE by getting these 2 resources together: Basic Addition and Subtraction Activities BUNDLE.

Mental Maths Fun Starter Games KS2

6 Resources
KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 differentiated Maths warm up activities for the whole class! Printable mental maths scavenger or treasure hunt style games, with differentiation, ideal as whole class active starters or plenaries, especially in Y5 and Y6, to get students moving and working collaboratively. There are 6 hunt / relay race sets in this great value BUNDLE, each focusing on a different concept: 1. Adding and Subtracting Decimals 2. Dividing with Multiples of 10, 100, 1000 3. Multiplying 3 Numbers 4. Number Bonds to 100 / Making 100 5. Fractions of Quantities / Amounts 6. Percentages of Quantities / Amounts Each game can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. In each game there are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and students is included, along with solutions. Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back. Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards.
