A VE Day Escape Room activity. Ideal for Year 5 or Year 6, the activity is perfect for group work, starting a new World War II topic, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. The activity can be used in English class as it incorporates some ELA skills or in Social Studies. The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word. In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word. In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word. In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of Ancient China. There are 40 posters or task cards that include many of the key events including the rise of the first villages on the Yellow River, the first emperor and the Qin Dynasty, the building of the Great Wall, and the beginning of trade along the Silk Road. A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events, legends and famous figures of the Aztec Empire of modern-day Mexico. There are 26 posters or task cards that include many of the key events including the migration of the Aztecs to the valley of Mexico; the rule of emperors Itzcoatl and Moctezuma; the arrival of Hernan Cortes and the Spanish conquistadors; and the creation of modern-day Mexico. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to the Aztecs. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.
