A fully resourced lesson on the global English, Singlish for the AQA English A Level Language, paper 2.
Singlish is a case study that allows students to extend their knowledge of ‘language control’ beyond Academie Francais in an intelligent and sophisticated manner.
This lesson has resources from the Singapore government ‘Speak Good English Movement’ and refererences to the demotic language change over time as well as PSAs during COVID.
It has a slide with condensed revision notes for students to take for exam preparation.
I have also included a practise paper 2 using Singlish as the focus. You could use this as a homework or in-class activity to consolidate understanding.
