I have been teaching for 3 years now. I am a passionate and motivated young teacher with an enthusiasm for inspiring the next generation. Over my few years, I have created many useful resources and I think it would be great to share these with other like minded teachers.

GCSE English Language Y11 Revision Walkthrough

(0)
This is a walkthrough of GCSE AQA English Language Paper 1 (June 2017 - Rosabel paper). It includes references to the mark scheme and a wealth of examples which are annotated in terms of where they hit the mark scheme and then each exemplar has examiner comments alongside. There are accompanying worksheets for the students with all of the exemplars on. I have created this in the hopes that students will become more confident in knowing the difference between the levels of the mark scheme e.g. what the difference is between ‘some’ and ‘clear’. By the end of the slides, students will have completed an entire language paper 1. I plan to then take this in to mark and give them feedback on how to improve. They will then have time to make these improvements in lesson. However, you can, of course, use these slides however you’d like to. I hope you find them useful.

Shakespeare Shorts ENTIRE SCHEME OF LEARNING AND RESOURCES

(0)
This is a scheme of learning which focuses on the theme of social justice across several extracts from different Shakespeare plays including Othello, King Lear, Macbeth and many more. The scheme prompts students to explore different social justice issues in the extracts from Shakespeare’s plays and to analyse the language used to present these social issues. The scheme then makes wider links to non-fiction articles and other pieces of fiction. For example, after exploring poverty in King Lear, students then move on to read Marcus Rashford’s letter to MPs about free school meals. This scheme has a booklet with it which includes all of the extracts and space for students to complete the tasks. This is designed to run over a half term.

Year 7: Introduction to the Gothic Scheme of Work

(0)
This scheme of work is designed to introduce year 7 students to all things Gothic including Gothic short stories, film clips, poems and extracts from novels. There is a range of media referenced in this scheme to prepare them for the rest of the academic year. For us, they then study Dracula, Hamlet and end the year with a film unit so this scheme prepares them for all of those studies. There is introduction to analysis in this scheme and plenty of opportunities for creative writing. I have also tried to build in ativities to build oracy and ensure there are creative tasks in there as well to really engage and motivate our new year 7 students. For example, they get to create a Gothic mask inspired by their studies. There is a booklet to run alongside the 34 lesson scheme of work as well as other supporting documents. There are also differentiated worksheets for low ability students which consist of prompt sheets, senetence starters, planning sheets etc.

This scheme of work is for the final term of year 7 and therefore should last about 7 weeks. It introduces students to camera angles, lighting, costume etc. and asks them to analyse this range of features by studying different clips for films. There are also creative tasks embedded and students have the opportunity to write their own screenplays. There is a booklet which runs alongside the scheme of work as well as supporting resources for lower ability pupils.
