A double lesson on Operation Mincemeat. The story of how the British used the body of a dead tramp to trick Hitler into thinking the Allies would attack at a certain location in the Mediterranean. The lesson has a link to the BBC documentary on YouTube (look in notes on PP slide) and a data capture sheet for pupils to complete afterwards.

A short assembly that considers how children move on through transition. Easily adaptable to your setting. Includes a reference to Tony Walsh’s ‘New Beginnings’. You may need to find the Youtube clip if the link gets updated.

A mixed ability lesson with the main activity resource suitable for SEN children. The presentation has a clear objective an,d with the use of a textbook, has a creative task whereby pupils create a farm in the 1890s which shows some the changes made in agriculture since the 1750s. A really good way of getting the point across is get them to complete a similar farm design in 1750 using a textbook and then this 1890 one. Use a lesson and group work to pull out the main changes and then set up a debate around which change was the most significant.

A full set of resources to deliver a half term scheme of work on the History of Fun. This is a great way to get pupils thinking about the development of themes over time. It is in chronological order and includes lessons on: - First humans - Egyptians - Greeks - Romans - Medieval - Tudors - Victorians - 20th century There is also an assessment with lessons that can be used summatively. NOTE - Some lessons (e.g. Romans and Egyptians) are sold separately by me. I put these all together with the other lessons due to a number of requests from people who wanted to buy the whole unit.

A fully resourced revision lesson on the Norman Conquest that helps pupils recall and reflect on castles, feudal system, Domesday Book and the Church. Activities are group and individual focused with a dice activity that gets pupils to think more deeply about the idea of control.

A lesson developed through staff collaboration using Lesson Study. Look for the other similarly named lessons. - Fully resourced - Fun and interactive - Designed for all abilities (including SEN) - Pair/Group work focused I delivered the lesson as follows: Starter: Inference Picture Task. Get pupils to try and suggest what may be happening in the picture (e.g. The White Cliffs of Dover suggests it’s in Britain etc) Main Tasks: Quick question video clip in which pupils watch the film and write down some basic answers. This is used to set the scene. Group Work: Get pupils into groups of 3. Prior to the lesson stick on one side of sugar/A3 paper the resources I have included (sources for invasion). Also pupils should read the 'Instruction sheet legionnaire' to gain an understanding of the task. Then give the pupils 15 minutes to plan. After this use the PP to bring up the scenario slides which may put a spanner in their planning. I do this every 5 minutes. Plenary/Consolidation: Pupils are to use the sentence starters to write an extended piece of writing about the invasion of Britain. Also, use the link to the BBC to see how accurate the pupils were in their exercises. ** The 'I believe' statement cards were used to try and get some of the quieter pupils to explain their thoughts orally.

Aimed to be used at the end of a study of the key Cold War event. The lesson is structured as follows: - Pupils create a mind map about what they already know about the Cuban Missile Crisis - They then use sources (the number of which can be reduced depending on the ability of pupils) to populate the mind map during the course of the lesson. Pupils use a different colour pen for this so it clearly shows new material gleaned from the resources. - Feedback and sharing with other members of the class. Again pupils should use another colour for this so it shows peer teaching

A SOW of 10 lessons on the assassination of JFK and the different theories surrounding it. Also included in this pack is a few of the resources to help deliver it.

An assembly suitable for key stages 2-4 that explores how people judge each other on areas such as appearance and were they work. It also looks at the variety of interests and tastes that exist in the UK. The assembly is quite interactive and requires some participation from the audience in terms of suggestions for what the images mean to them.

A fully resourced lesson on the life and significance of the prophet. Explore his life though an animation and then break down the significant turning points he experienced in the 7th and 8th century.

A 45-60 minute summative assessment on the Norman Conquest of Britain and how he kept control. A Geography and History themed lesson on Pompeii in which pupils use a variety of resources such as animations, information sheets and eyewitness accounts to build a picture of the Vesuvius eruption in AD79.

3 lessons with resources including: - Full presentations on Hindu Holy Books, Ramayana and how Hindu's worship/temples - Pupil sheets ready to print off in A4 or A3 - A 2 lesson assessment activity on Hindu temples that brings together their knowledge. Give pupils 2 lessons for activities on gathering evidence and then two lessons for designing their temples. - Assessment is not levels but rather the mastery system with key descriptions and examples to help pupils achieve secure.

A nice activity in which pupils colour in the areas dedicated to 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. Afterwards they can write about how parts of the ship were dedicated to the passengers and why so many 3rd class voyagers died.

A cross curricular SOW I wrote for my History department which worked alongside the Drama team. The pupils loved the fact they went to both subjects and explore the same topic. I have also included the first lesson. History focused on the building of the ship and the tragic events while Drama studied the passengers and Edwardian class system.

A lesson that allows pupils to explore two parables of Jesus and use pair work to find out the key meaning of them. Also includes an example exercise using the Good Samaritan parable and animation.
