This Year 2 unit of work focuses on Samuel Pepys Dairy that he kept to record the events of the Great Fire of London. This weeks worth of planning timetables: Mon - SPaG lesson (verbs), Tues - Freeze frame/snap shots of scenes described in the diary, Wed - Identifying features of a Diary entry using Samuel Pepys as an example, Thur - Planning own diary entry of the first two days of the fire breaking out and Fri - The Big Write of their own diary entry.
The resources included: Lesson plans, verbs worksheets, Samuel Pepys Diary (PowerPoint presentation), diary writing questions and a diary features checklist.
This planning could always be adapted for the use in other year groups.
Here is a weeks worth of planning focussing on teaching Traditional Tales to year 2. The particular story that this planning focuses on is Hansel and Gretel. The plan includes the learning objectives, success criteria and differentiation.
