Sixth form/ post-16 assembly or lesson to help students deal with disappointments, academically and in life. Editable power-point with teaching notes, pre-session and follow-up quiz. Ideal for assemblies, personal development or careers. It is designed for KS5 but could be used for KS4.

This lesson discusses the importance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development and includes opportunities for discussion and optional videos (timings included, so you can calculate what works for your time slot). The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a general knowledge quiz to begin to consider the value of cultural diversity and how much is already present in students’ lives. The presentation includes further reading and finishes with a plenary to evaluate the discussion and understanding.

A resource for International Mother Language Day (could also be adapted for European Day of Languages in September). Includes an introductory quiz on Forms (link to duplicate in the Teaching Notes), a Powerpoint presentation with discussion points, to get students think about the diversity of languages in the world and UK and where they could be beneficial in the world of work.

This assembly deals with the history behind St George (as well as the myth), looking at his roots far from England, who venerates him and how he came to be patron saint of England. It also looks at what he stands for; he was chosen as representing the knightly ideals, e.g. bravery and integrity and in religious terms as a Christian martyr, represents holding firm to his beliefs.

Assembly/ PSHE/ Personal Development/ Careers session for KS4/ KS5 students, reflecting on last year and on setting targets for this year. Includes ppt, student sheet and comprehensive teacher notes as well as entry and exit quiz to measure progress. Considers why resolutions often fail and teaches students how to set meaningful and achievable targets and get into good academic habits.

This resource is designed to build student’s understanding of what Hate Crime is, why it happens and how to deal with it. As well as an introductory quiz on Forms to get students thinking (link in teaching notes) there is a Ppt presentation and headline discussion worksheet. The presentation ends with a plenary which can be adapted to use with smaller groups or for individuals to feedback on their understanding.

For Pi Day, this adaptable powerpoint lesson highlights the reasons for Pi Day, while also raising awareness of maths in our everyday lives, including in careers. The teaching notes include a link to a brief introductory quiz on Forms and the presentation includes opportunities for discussion and optional video links.

Sixth form brings many new experiences, including turning 17 and learning to drive. This presentation underlines the dangers for young drivers, highlights particular risky behaviours and reminds about legal responsibilities. There are opportunities for discussion, links to further reading and to optional videos. It would work as a stand-alone session, but would also support revisiting content from a presentation from an emergency service. It is supported by a preliminary quiz on Forms to ascertain student perceptions of themselves as drivers and of gauging risk and a plenary quiz to check impact. Both are accessed via links to duplicate in the Teaching Notes.

This lesson coincides with Emergency Services or 999 Day in September, but in recognition that this is already a busy time of year, can easily be adapted to fit elsewhere in your plan. It talks about the services, how to make an emergency call, what constitutes and emergency and includes links to videos and additional reading is included at the end after the plenary slide. THe teaching notes include a link to duplicate a survey on forms to ascertain understanding of the subject before you begin.

This provides the complete lesson on work experience, including a preliminary survey on Forms to gain understanding of job sectors students are interested in, a Ppt presentation including discussion activities and a plenary quiz in addition to links of where to gain further information or support.

This resource is designed to reinvigorate reading amongst those in college, with an introductory quiz on Forms, presentation with discussion points and suggestions to revisit the idea of reading, as well as a review discussion worksheet. The links to the introductory and plenary quizzes are included in the teaching notes. It was put together with WBD in mind, but could fit at any time in your Lifeskills/Study skills programme.

This is a complete resource, which can be adapted to your needs. It includes a lesson plan, a link to Forms to duplicate a preliminary quiz to get students thinking, Ppt including opportunities for discussion (accompanying definition and scenarios worksheets also included). To check on understanding and prepare for follow-up there is also a printable Exit Slip.

This lesson is designed with International Day of Families in mind, but raises questions and includes discussion points which would fit any discussion of families, so is easily adapted to fit with PHSE/RSE/Lifeskills topics. The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a preliminary quiz on Forms to get students thinking about some of the issues to be discussed. The presentaiton includes links to optional videos, with timings so you can decide which to include (or use later for a follow-up). The plenary allows you to review what has been discussed. The final slide includes links to further reading.

This lesson includes a Ppt presentation with various optional discussion points and the Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a quiz on Forms fro students to complete in advance or at the start. It allows for discussion of current issues around misogyny and where they may stem from, while giving opportunities to consider the differences faced by men and women going out in terms of their own safety. It looks at the debate around making misogyny a Hate Crime but also where feelings of misogyny stem from and what could make a difference. Assembly on the origins and history of Valentine’s Day, with opportunities to also reflect on different types of love and what constitutes healthy relationships (relationship green flags). The assembly is designed for sixth form but could easily be adpated for younger students. All slides are fully editable and many include notes for further discussion/ with additional information/ ideas.

It could fit with Deaf Awareness Week in May or at any point in your PSHE/Lifeskills programme. There are various opportunities for discussion and some suggested video links to support the discussions.

This resource includes a Ppt to explain Gatsby Benchmark 4 within the context of the 8 benchmarks and the recent updated benchmarks for implementation from September 2025. The presentation includes suggestions for how to implement the benchmark and underlines the responsibility of each department. In addition, I have put together a list of sources of posters and information along with suggested visits and experiences.
